Are you living the "American Dream?"

The other day I asked my client how they were and they said "Just living the American Dream." Their remark got me thinking. What is the "American Dream,” and are we living it?

I guess when you break it down I can say I am in a way; I am happy, married, have a child, house, cars in the drive way, dogs. I eat out when I want to, take vacations, and vote. But is that it?! Do you really feel you are living the endless possibilities, opportunities, which America has to offer?

I must say that working from home is a wonderful "American Dream" I also feel the freedom we have to be who ever we want to be, live where ever we want to live, go to college, vote, walk into a room filled with people and be surrounded by different cultures are all aspects of the "American Dream."

I guess each individual can define what the "American Dream" could be, and what it really is. Regardless, I guess if we are happy then we must be doing something right! So with all that said lets be grateful to live in a country of endless possibilities and opportunities. Let's all live the "American Dream!"

SING

My daughter's new favorite word is "Sing." She is constantly telling us to "Sing, Sing" it is too funny! She even tries to sing along to the songs on the radio. When she says the word it sounds more like "Siiing." I am already a huge fan of music so I think it is great that she is into it too. I hope she sticks to this new obsession.

Mommy's Night Out

Lately I have been having a lot of nights out, some with girlfriends, other's with family and mostly with my Husband. I hate when I feel guilty going out. Most of the time it is at night when the baby is already asleep, sometimes it is dinner time. The problem is I work from home so I do not have the interaction all day with people. Don't get me wrong I LOVE my life, I am grateful to work from home. But I notice I look forward to my time away from home just to get some air, space and be around people. I know there is no harm in it and everyone deserves it, but I can not help but feel guilty when I do it.

To make up for it I take my daughter to the beach, Stew's or to the pool during the day. I wonder if she will ever really appreciate having me with her? I bet she won't realize it until she has a family of her own. I adore her and adore what life I built for myself.

I was at the gym one day and on the cover of New York magazine was an article titled "I love my children, I hate my life." Pretty harsh if you asked me. But the reality is that we consume so much of who we are into our family and home that we loose a little of who we really are. I guess I gain a little of that when I am out and have to focus just on my self. I gain a little independence and appreciate my family more when I come home.

So for all you mommies out there who ever felt guilty like me, don't. We are actually becoming better people and happier, making us appreciate our family life a little more. This in the end will make us better parents.

Cookbook/Scrapebook

TASTEBOOK is an amazing gift idea. I just did it with my sister's bridal party as one of her shower gifts and she and everyone who participated LOVED it! Basically what it is is a personalized recipe/cook book and you can attach any photos to it.

What we did was contacted everyone we knew who was attending the shower and asked them to please forward a recipe and personalized message to the bride and groom. We then posted a picture to the recipe that included the person who gave us the recipe. It is sooo easy and sooo much fun. Plus they look so profesional and is a great keepsake!!! It was the perfect cookbook/scrapebook in one!

New York City

We spent the day in New York City for the 4th of July. It was my daughter's first time on a train, first cab ride and first time in the Big Apple. She loved every minute of it.

We spent most of the day in Central Park. We took her to the Central Park Zoo and watched the Sea Lion show. The Polar Bears where huge and the Sea Lions were sooo happy, it was so cute. We ate lunch at the Boat House, over looking the pond where everyone was in row boats. It was a beautiful day.

I could not believe how clean the park was. I was so impressed how nice it was and there were hardly any homeless people. There were a ton of people and entertainment all throughout the park. I always loved it there but for some reason I really appreciated it this time around. It was a great day trip and I think my daughter would appreciate it one day! So for all you locals who have been to New York City but never Central Park, make an effort to stop there next time and appreciate all the creativity that surrounds it!
