Crêpes at Crêpes Choupette in Darien

I went with my girlfriend over the weekend. It’s so cute inside. We started with cappuccinos and a savory crepe. 

The crepe was like a wheat type. Was really good and fun. You get to watch the lady making the crepes. 

Then we split the Nutella, strawberry and banana crepe and I must say it’s the best I ever had. I can’t wait to take the kids to try it.

My pictures don’t do justice. This place was amazing. We went with my parents to brunch. It was so good for them to get out and have some fun. 

We ate our faces off. They had their brunch and regular menu available to us. 

Their beef empanadas were go good we ordered another round. The Chacha-cha chicken my boyfriend ordered and loved it. Best yucca fries served on the side of a delicious bacon burger. 

We can’t wait to go back and try more! If there isn’t street parking then you can park in the back on Isaac street.

29 Markle Restaurant in Bridgeport CT

I have seen this on Instagram and read an article about their opening. Their menu isn’t listed anywhere but from what I read I wanted to try it anyway. We had a double date. My sister and her husband with us. 

I told them I don’t know much but what I read it sounds like a great place. We winged it and let me tell you it was more than what I expected. 

It was absolutely delicious! The staff is very friendly. The ambiance is really nice….Simple. Chic. Trendy. 

They are a farm to table restaurant. Their menu changes every season. 

Their “New” Old fashion came out with a lid on it and when they took it off it was smoky. 

We had their fish tacos and glazed carrots for an appetizer. The carrots were over whipped ricotta and coffee grinds. It was amazing. 

Shrimp and grits, ribeye, and salmon were our dinner selections. All so fresh and delicious. We can’t wait to go back next season and try their new menu.

Double Digits

My middle one turned 10 today. Double digits. 10 sounds so much older than 9. She’s really the sweetest. 

This weekend we had a family party and our birthday breakfast in bed tradition continued. Waffles and bacon was her choice. 

For our family celebration spaghetti with lobster sauce. Next weekend is her friend party. She’s my easiest. She likes to have quiet time and be alone. She thrives in calm atmospheres and she’s really the sweetest kid ever. Don’t get me wrong she is tough. She doesn’t like to be messed with and can handle any situation but she’s really an amazing kid. I am lucky that all my kids are. 

Cheers to 10. I hope every year just gets better for her.

Been there. Felt that. On guard. Even years later. But honestly learn from those lessons but don’t carry them with you. 

Logic verse Emotions

This is really hard to do. Good communication in a relationship helps with this. 

Being self aware and open and real helps too. 

We initially react by how we feel not think. I am guilty of it too. We all do it. 

It’s ok to feel but being in a place where you can be vulnerable and feel emotionally safe makes it easier to communicate without being so emotional. When you are being “heard” there’s a validation we are being granted.

Melting Pot Darien…Last Time Before They Close

I found out the one in Darien was closing for good so we had to bring the kids to enjoy chocolate fondue. They loved it. I haven’t taken them in years. My daughter turns 10 soon so we did an early birthday celebration. 

They had her name on the screen and gave her a card and even a slice of cake and sang to her when we sat down. We ordered the original- which is chocolate and peanut and then a dark chocolate one. 

It’s so fun here. So glad we got to bring the kids before they closed for good on Tuesday at this location.

Simple Solutions To Feel Better

Life Will Slow Down

It truly was a couple of crazy weeks. I am finally feeling ok. With my dad in the hospital and the rollercoaster ride of his health, to my kids getting over a stomach bug just to catch another cold. Their cough lasts forever. 

Work has been crazy. Early morning meetings. Giving presentations. I have been exhausted. 

Last weekend my boyfriend got called into work so I ordered Chinese and binge watched my shows at his house. 

Honestly I needed it. I needed to just be. Not to have my brain work. 

We got fortune cookies and one was chocolate. I opened it and it was the most appropriate fortune I could have received. 

“Although it feels like a roller coaster now, life will calm down”

It did. Thank god but made us appreciate life. Everyday. Just do that because you never know. Ever! 

My dad is home now and well. The kids are feeling great too and I finally caught up on rest in time to tackle another week. 

Life does calm down and things do get better. Remember that.

Our Very Own King Cake

This year we made our own. I ordered the kit on Amazon and we made it for Mardi Gra. 

Then I stuck the baby on a plate and put a slice of cake over it. Everyone picked a plate. 

I asked them all to lift their slice and we got a good laugh. My youngest got the baby. 

It is suppose to represent her getting good luck for the year. 

The inside of the cake was a praline mixture. We served the cake warm and it was delicious! 

We will definitely be making it again next year.

Hot Haven Chicken in Norwalk CT

This just opened in Norwalk and the kids have been asking to try it so we went the other day 

It was delicious. Filling. A bit pricey for a combo but huge portions. 

I loved the slaw and the sweet sauce- tasted like syrup. You go in and say what level of spice you want. I went for country- no spice but the slaw is a little zesty. 

There isn’t a drive thru. Just walk in or pre order. 

Glad we got to try it.

Every year we celebrate Valentines with everyone during Super Bowl. 

Hearts and footballs. 

It’s a lot of fun and a great way to spread some love. 

The girls really have a lot of fun together. We made cookies and heart pancakes for breakfast and heart pizza for lunch.

We finally got to try this place. Was delicious. It’s on Isaac street in Norwalk. The wonder is super sweet. We went in and there was about 9 flavors to pick from.

Our favorite was Uber Good- it was a special and it was a German chocolate cake cookie. So fun!
