When Things Get Real...

I didn’t want my Dad going to the grocery store so I went early this morning. It wasn’t bad at first then random shelves were empty. Like bananas and canned food items. Of course no toilet paper or cleaning products. Baby wipes where gone. But it was weird to know we all were there not knowing when we would be back.

I started adding extra items like pasta and canned fruit. I actually couldn’t even think straight. I tried to imagine dinners for the girls and lunch the next couple of weeks. People are around you in masks and plastic gloves. I couldn’t mentally plan.

The stores aren’t restocking the same day. I heard shipments come in. They restock shelves night before and done again until the next night. There is plenty of food but if you’re selective you have to get there when they open.

The aisle for checkout was all the way to the end of the store. I waited to checkout for fifteen minutes. Once you got near the self checkout they assigned you to a register to stand in.

I don’t have anxiety. Gratefully. But I will tell you this virus and closing and selective isolation can really bring out some anxiety in people. Try to relax. Try to know it’s only temporarily. It will go back to normal again. There is no shortage of food. We will be safe.
Try to calm and have extra patience. Try to make this process as enjoyable as possible and try not to go out. We can be carrying this virus and passing it along to people who can’t fight it like we can. Let’s try to just enjoy the process.
