Do You Have A Gypsy Soul?

Feel Good Song: Elderly woman behind the counter in a small town

Old Brain Vs. New Brain

We get stuck. Stuck in old ways. Stuck in old thinking. We think life is suppose to be a certain way. When it’s not we argue it. It’s hard to deal. Life is chaotic.

We then react to situations like we always have. The reason is because we are used to reacting that way in the old brain. When we work on our ourselves. Meditate. Go to therapy. It’s teaches us to process things in our new brain. A new way of dealing with things. A new approach to not reacting the same way we always do.

It’s not easy. You need to dig deep and heal. You need to have all your old ways that didn’t serve you well leave. Not be a part of you. You need to restart the way you think and react.

You do this so you don’t get the same results. Feelings. Path. You do this so you can handle situations and people in life differently. It’s like holding a grudge. There’s people from my past that I have to prep myself before being in a room with them. Like ok don’t react. Don’t snap. Don’t hang on every word they say. Don’t let them hurt you. And then if happens. They say one word condescending or wrong and my old brain kicks in. I become defensive and it’s to protect myself
from getting hurt or degraded yet again.

It’s my old brain. Old way of thinking. That I have to protect or stick  up for myself. I don’t. You don’t.

We don’t need to have anyone get the best of us. Remove yourself from that situation and surround yourself with people who are good for your soul and mind.

See we don’t make changes for other people. We make changes to better ourselves.

There’s a difference.

My Wish For You....

When the moon hits the sky like a big pizza pie...

If you can guess what’s on this pizza I will personally ship one out to you...

We walked the strip of downtown Hyannis yesterday. It’s one of my favorite. I love all the cute little shops. There are a ton of restaurants too.

Ambiance is really important. The girls were checking out the menus at some places and at the same time
We suggested Colombo’s. I have been here a couple of times when I came last with my ex but the girls never been. I knew it would be a great meal.

But this...this pizza is nothing like I ever had and I had had a lot in my time.

It’s a brussel sprout pizza. With panchetta, roasted red onion, mozzarella and topped with...a fig drizzle. My mouth is salivating writing this.

It’s so light and airy the dough. The balance of flavors is on point. The fig drizzle adds a little hint of sweetness. It’s insane and a must try. The panchetta adds a saltines and balances out the Brussels sprouts.

It’s a genius combination.

Sunday Motivation: Seek Guidance From Within

Your mind, body and heart must be aligned. First calm your thoughts. Process what you feel. Rationalize with what is causes you some chaos.

Listen to your body. If it can’t function under pressure. If it doesn’t feel right. Listen to your body. Be careful what you put in it. Be careful how you use it.

Your heart guides you. What makes you happy? What makes your heart smile? Fill it with those moments and people.

All your answers are within.  You have the power to know that you have full control over these things. No one else does.

Just One...I Will Be Happy When...

It may seem huge at first. Or you convince yourself and say l will make a decision this weekend or after a trip or after a holiday or when I am older or tomorrow or....see where I am going.

There’s never going to be a perfect moment. The moment is now!

Moms, Women, No Explanation Needed...Go Take care of yourself!

(Upper right pic top last year vs this year)

(Fall 2016 purple jacket)

This is my third year going to the Cape with girlfriends and it makes me a better person. Why? Because it helps me relax and reconnect with myself. Take care of  just me just for a few days.

Why aren’t we encouraging women to do more...for themselves. Why does there have to be an explanation for me or you or moms or women to go away. Take a break. Do something for themselves?

I checked on my girls and my little one said her Dad told her I wasn’t away for work. No I am not I told her. I am with my friends and will be home in a couple of days. It rubbed me wrong. He was telling the truth but he could of comforted her saying “mom is away to take a little break and it’s ok. It’s ok to do something for yourself. She will be back don’t worry.”

I think as women we need to also encourage this with our kids. It’s ok to take care of yourself. It’s ok for “you time”.

We think we have this duty to always put everyone first and no one does the same for us. You won’t even know the prep that went into me leaving for four nights. Gratefully my Mom is helping but I still had to make sure everything was in line for them. Plus with our parenting schedule I left on a schedule when the only day I needed coverage on my day was Sunday.
Reality is if I wanted to leave for a week or two weeks or a day or three days it’s all ok because it’s my choice. My decision and there’s nothing wrong with that.

Men just kind of get up and go. You take care of yourself and that’s fine but do us women complain? Do we question you? Do we say Daddy is off having fun like it’s a bad thing? No!

I come from a family of women. Strong. Independent. I have to remind myself regularly why I chose to raise kids as a single divorced mom. For myself. For my own peace of mind. For them to know how a woman should be treated and loved. Yet it’s not them who need to be taught that. It’s unfortunately society.

Yes mom is away and guess what be happy for her.

Yes you need an escape. So don’t have anyone question it or act like it’s wrong. Self love and self care are extremely important and necessary in life.

No more explanations. Go take care of yourself! I will be here having your back and applauding you!
