Happy Taco Tuesday...Bar Taco
A friend put me on to this bowl and now whenever I go I get it. The pork belly bowl at Bar Taco is delicious. Sweet with a hint of heat. Pairs perfectly with their Margaritas. So it’s not a Taco but it’s close enough. How are you celebrating Taco Tuesday?
Live Your Best Life
Are you living your best life? If not, I hope you do!
I have been looking up some activities to join like local Meet Up Groups and adult camps just to get out and meet people and try different activities. Then ironically I had a friend from high school I used to be really close with reach out to me. He was looking for people to join his Co-Ed summer team. Sign me up I said. We began to talk about life and how things have been. He and I are friends on social media so he asks “What else have you been up to besides living your best life? It’s great to see all you’re doing and you’re happy.”
I laughed and then I thought about it. I only post about family or my kids on my social media platforms. Nothing about dating or my personal single life. I keep people out of that part of my life. His comment stayed with me. He was right. I really am living my best life.
And I know social media makes everything look like rainbows and sunshine. It’s really a fake upfront cover up but luckily behind the scenes I do have a great life and should be nothing but happy and grateful for it.
Summer Festival July 15th & 16th
Two day Summer Arts Festival on the Essex Town Green This Weekend!
Avoid The Noise...
You can’t tie your happiness to a person. Tie it to your own life, to yourself. Life is full of twists and turns.
If you’re single you know all about the rollercoaster ride of dating. Oh the stories. The friends you make along the way. The men who are still in your heart. The what if’s. The “What just happened, thought everything was going great” Yeah I get it. The “noise”.
The lies and mix ups. The games that you don’t have time to play. Then the fun times. The great adventures. The day trips. The fun. Feeling young at heart. The excitement. It all changes over night yet you still get up and continue living because that’s how single life is. It’s unpredictable can be painful can hurt yet can be awesome. You’re looking for the “one”.
If you’re in a relationship or married then I hope who ever you’re with you’re not settling. I hope they make your heart and soul happy. I hope they bring out the best version of you and when they touch you and hold your hand you feel their energy throughout your body. I hope when you look in their eyes you see their soul. That deep, one of a kind connection. They distract you from the noise. Not make you want to escape life.
I hope you choose to spend the rest of your life with that one person who was made to love you and you were made to love them. Bring out the best version of yourself.
That’s the goal. For us all to end up with someone who encourages us to bring out the best version of ourselves. Who helps us escape the “noise” not bring us the “noise”. Who loves us on our bad days and good. Who helps us feel young and love life again.

Be creative. Love life. Be good to your body. Stay up late. Volunteer with every cause that makes your heart happy. Love with all your heart, so big that when people leave they never ever forget you. Play in the grass. Blast your music and dance. Meditate. Tip even if it’s a dollar in ever tip jar you see. Smile at everyone you walk by. Walk with your head up high. Be sincere and empathetic and laugh at everything. Set your soul free!
Girls Night...When Was Your Last One?
We had such a great time in Atlanta together we had to plan another night. Luckily we were able to get a room and tickets to see Impractical Jokers at Mohegan Sun.
Girls weekends are the best. It’s nice to not have to take care of anyone but yourself every once in a while. Planning last minute getaways are my favorite.
Mohegan Sun is only 90 mins away so it’s nice to have a place to go. Having a room is so convienent and I absolutely love hanging by the fire pit or walking around the casino early morning.
I am not a gambler but I will admit I do get an urge to put a $20 in a machine. We were walking around and I put $20 in the Bachelor penny slot machine. One pull and all these things are going off. We had no clue what was going on. I ended up wining $50 Not bad for one pull and $50 on a penny slot machine.
Life is about creating memories with those who enjoy being by your side. Who jump at the opportunity to
hang with you. Love these girls who know how to make me laugh, party and have fun together. Appreciate your tribe! Don’t force others to be in your life who don’t want to be. Embrace and love those who do!
Ballo Italian Restaurant: Cheese Wheel
I kept seeing this and had to try it so when my Dad said we could pick a place for dinner, even though it was his birthday,I had to pick Ballo. Their cheese wheel pasta is an appetizer for $25 which is a portion size for 1-2 people as an appetizer. They do NOT have this on their menu. It’s a secret item that you have to order when you are there.
They served it as a truffle Mac and cheese. I wish it was a little hotter but it was absolutely delicious. So they put a little grain alcohol in the wheel. Light it then start scraping the cheese. They add a ton of parmigiana cheese, black truffle and then cooked pasta. Mix it all in the cheese wheel and serve. I LOVED this. I love new, creative food and experiences.
We also enjoyed their fried calamari, pork belly, lobster and shrimp ravioli and zuppa di pesce.
It was my Dad’s birthday so we surprised him with decorations and a birthday cake. He totally felt like a king. Was a great night.

Quality Time...Real Time...Little Feel Good Times
This was my fortune the other day. It made me laugh. It’s so true. I was never about materialistic stuff, ever! I cared about the little things. Spending time together. My favorite thing last summer was to pack a cooler and spend all afternoon and night hanging on a beach. Just listening to the waves and chatting. Laughing. Taking in the fresh sea air. Excited to do it all again this summer. So simple yet good for the soul.
It’s the little things that stick with us. Little messages that make a person smile. Taking time to do something for someone. Spending time together even if it’s picking up fun apps and hanging on a porch chatting all night.
I once had a friend bring me a single rose because they knew I liked watching the bachelor. I had another friend who always has my favorite drink waiting for me whenever I would arrive at their house on ice with a straw. Another a Charcuterie Board for me with fig jam perfect for a night in.
Little. Simple. Stay in my heart forever. Gestures.
Whatever little gestures make your heart appreciate it, do the same to others too, and always make it clear to others what makes your heart happy. ❤️
Happy Birthday To My Pop
To the one man I know will always be there for me...no matter what.
There’s something that Fathers of girls have to remember... you set the tone to what we will accept and tolerate in another man. My pop was always a strong worker, put my mom and us kids first and always was there for us know matter what. He always was the king in the house so being good to us came easy.
Whenever times get tough he asks “What do you need me to do? Are you ok? Are you happy?”
Those famous three questions...I am grateful everyday for his love and support.

What’s Your Therapy?
I must admit I write a lot lately but it’s the best therapy for me. When I see something that helps me or relates to what I have been through or going through I like to share it with my readers.
I am not one to keep things in. People in my life always know how I feel. If I loved you I loved you hard. If you hurt me I let you know. If you made me happy I did everything to make you happy. Even if I don’t have control of the outcomes I have dealt with love and lose and lust and pain. I also like you am learning everyday how to peel away the layers to be truly happy and heal and grow.
“A broken heart, empty pocket or hungry stomach are the best lessons in life.”
What’s your therapy? What do you have to offer? Writing is mine. What’s yours?
With Every Decision You Give Something Else Up
With every decision you make you have to give something up for it. No matter what it is. No matter what decision you have to pick. You choose something over something else. In order for your decision to really work you have to give it your 100%. Something loses every single time you make a decision to choose something else. Think about the decisions you make. Have made and continue to make. Choose wisely.

Art & Idea Festival Starts Saturday June 8th
The International Festival of Arts & Ideas in New Haven brings together performing artists and thought leaders from around the world to New Haven, CT.
I love art. There’s something about seeing someone’s creativity shine through. A couple months ago I went to a local art exhibit with some friends and it was so much fun. I haven’t been in so long. It’s great to see how other people put their creative mind to good use.

How Do You Handle Anger?
I hate to generalize but I will. Whenever someone grew angry around me it was always an elevated act. Out of control. Like you knew this person was angry or mad or very upset. Physical force or aggressive behavior was present. Breaking things or an elevation in their tone and voice. You didn’t have the question how they felt because they told you just in their actions.
But that’s not how you handle anger...
We all have trigger points. We handle these trigger points based on how our environment has taught us to handle them.
Let me explain...I started to meet really calm, chill, people past year and a half. Men who were very laid back yet manly men. Tough guys yet sweet at the core. Protectors yet genuinely sincere, kind, gentle. A couple of times I witnessed them handle anger and situations that triggered them. I didn’t even know they were mad. “I am so mad” they said. Um What? Really? You’re not yelling. You’re not intimidating anyone. You’re not being aggressive or scary or abusive. You’re not breaking things. You’re actually calm. You’re still being respectful.
I started to stop generalizing how you should handle
anger.
I started to see it in my own kids. The other day a misunderstanding took place over an activity I signed up to help at school. “Honey there was a misunderstanding and he said I was attending and you said I wasn’t and I told him you were right I was coming later in the day and he said oh I am sorry I will have to apologize to her for getting upset. I forgot to tell him I will be late. So he will speak with you.” When I told my daughter she said “Mom he wasn’t angry. He was so calm. He told me he would speak with you. It’s fine.”
It hit me right then and there the same way I would generalize how anger was handled my daughter did too. It stopped me in my tracks. It made me want to not have my kids generalize or accept anger the way I used to. That people don’t need to turn into a monster to get their point across. They don’t have to intimidate people to be heard.
It all starts with you. It really does. It’s a level of what you would tolerate or not. It’s also being able to diffuse a situation when things escalate. When shouting occurs to not one up someone. To not be forceful or aggressive. To be able to bring the person back down to a state of calmness.
Sometimes our norm doesn’t have to be our reality.
Feel Good Song: Awake My Soul
“In these bodies we will live, in these bodies we will die and where you invest your love, you invest your life”
Please Call Me...Sunshine
It started out as a joke. I was out with the kids and they kept calling me..Mom..MOM...MOMMMMM. I turned around and said enough. I am changing my name. “oh yeah to what mom” “well if you’re going to call me over and over again then at least call me something that is fun, bright, how about for now on call me Sunshine”
Well it stuck. Now I hear Mom...MOM....SUNSHINE and I can’t help but laugh. They do it at home. When we go out. People turn and look at me and I explain the story and they laugh.
Peel the layers and reveal a little everyday of who you really are. I always wanted to be carefree and happy...Sunshine is a good start!
