Ptown...What An Amazing Vibe & Town

I have been coming to Cape Cod for 20 years and never been to Provincetown Mass.  It was always on my list of places to go to. I finally went and I can’t wait to go back.

First of all there are a ton of shops. Restaurants. Bars. Candy shops. Clothing stores. Little variety stores. Then there are fun toys shops for adults- you walk in and they ask if you want a tour. Palm readers. Stones and tarot card readers. I walked into a place and wanted to get my Palm read. I did this 20 years ago. The lady who does the reading walks out to talk to me and I turned to my friends and said I am catching a weird vibe from her, I don’t like her energy and decided not to do it.

There are families everywhere. Beautiful people everywhere. Gorgeous men who aren’t available but amazing to just look at. The creativity is overwhelming. Everywhere you look is awesome art. I want to come back next year and stay a night or two to enjoy the nightlife.

The boardwalk is huge. I haven’t seen a place like this in a very long time. It felt like a place I want to hang. Amazing energy. Friendly people. Awesome artist work everywhere.

Every where you turn you laugh or smile or get inspired.

I can’t believe it took me 20 years of coming to the Cape to finally go. It was about a 90 minute drive from
where we are staying in West Yarmouth but so worth the drive.

I laughed at my girlfriend who brought us to Chatham because it’s so her style. Preppy and Greenwich ave like. We arrive at Ptown and I said now welcome to my hood. Creative, artsy and full of life. Such different personalities but such a great time to experience new adventures and places together.

Commercial street is the place to checkout

Chatham Bars Inn Chatham Mass

Let’s do brunch in Chatham...my girlfriend asked if we could stop by her favorite spot.

Of course! Brunch is my favorite so I loved thatand sign   me up for any time I can try someplace new. It was about a 45 minute drive but so worth it.

The place is gorgeous. Surrounded by gardens and amazing flowers.

Every angle is the perfect picture.

They don’t take reservations but we arrived around 9:45 and only waited 10 minutes. It’s super clean. The food is delicious. Buffet brunch was $36 a person. Mimosas are not included in the price. It felt like a tea party room to hang in. Any seat provided a perfect view of the outdoors.

(View from my seat inside the restaurant)

If you’re in the area check it out. It’s worth the drive and picture perfect!

Morning Views...Get Outside

I haven’t been following my diet. Then again who does on vacation. This morning I decided to work out. The view was amazing!!

This time I took in the new views and sounds. Even the smell of the ocean air.

Working out by the bay is amazing. Therapeutic and relaxing. The sun beaming down. The waves crashing. So peaceful.

And then my favorite song came on. It was an amazing experience for sure.

Self Care...Yes It’s So Important

Happy Monday: Find Beauty In Your Life

Sunsets in Hyannis

This is my favorite thing to do. I love going to this area. It has a playground where my girls used to played. Then we could watch the ferries coming in. It’s the best spot to see the Sunsets.

At first I didn’t remember where it was. It’s a small batch of sand. Not a beach or bay. The first night we were here I said I was determined to find it again.  I remembered it being down the street from the hospital. Once I arrived I knew actually which place it was hidden. We stay for hours. Talking. Watching the ferries. Drinking wine and sometimes not saying a word. We just take it all in.

Where’s your happy place?

Do You Have A Gypsy Soul?

Feel Good Song: Elderly woman behind the counter in a small town

Old Brain Vs. New Brain

We get stuck. Stuck in old ways. Stuck in old thinking. We think life is suppose to be a certain way. When it’s not we argue it. It’s hard to deal. Life is chaotic.

We then react to situations like we always have. The reason is because we are used to reacting that way in the old brain. When we work on our ourselves. Meditate. Go to therapy. It’s teaches us to process things in our new brain. A new way of dealing with things. A new approach to not reacting the same way we always do.

It’s not easy. You need to dig deep and heal. You need to have all your old ways that didn’t serve you well leave. Not be a part of you. You need to restart the way you think and react.

You do this so you don’t get the same results. Feelings. Path. You do this so you can handle situations and people in life differently. It’s like holding a grudge. There’s people from my past that I have to prep myself before being in a room with them. Like ok don’t react. Don’t snap. Don’t hang on every word they say. Don’t let them hurt you. And then if happens. They say one word condescending or wrong and my old brain kicks in. I become defensive and it’s to protect myself
from getting hurt or degraded yet again.

It’s my old brain. Old way of thinking. That I have to protect or stick  up for myself. I don’t. You don’t.

We don’t need to have anyone get the best of us. Remove yourself from that situation and surround yourself with people who are good for your soul and mind.

See we don’t make changes for other people. We make changes to better ourselves.

There’s a difference.

My Wish For You....

When the moon hits the sky like a big pizza pie...

If you can guess what’s on this pizza I will personally ship one out to you...

We walked the strip of downtown Hyannis yesterday. It’s one of my favorite. I love all the cute little shops. There are a ton of restaurants too.

Ambiance is really important. The girls were checking out the menus at some places and at the same time
We suggested Colombo’s. I have been here a couple of times when I came last with my ex but the girls never been. I knew it would be a great meal.

But this...this pizza is nothing like I ever had and I had had a lot in my time.

It’s a brussel sprout pizza. With panchetta, roasted red onion, mozzarella and topped with...a fig drizzle. My mouth is salivating writing this.

It’s so light and airy the dough. The balance of flavors is on point. The fig drizzle adds a little hint of sweetness. It’s insane and a must try. The panchetta adds a saltines and balances out the Brussels sprouts.

It’s a genius combination.

Sunday Motivation: Seek Guidance From Within

Your mind, body and heart must be aligned. First calm your thoughts. Process what you feel. Rationalize with what is causes you some chaos.

Listen to your body. If it can’t function under pressure. If it doesn’t feel right. Listen to your body. Be careful what you put in it. Be careful how you use it.

Your heart guides you. What makes you happy? What makes your heart smile? Fill it with those moments and people.

All your answers are within.  You have the power to know that you have full control over these things. No one else does.

Just One...I Will Be Happy When...

It may seem huge at first. Or you convince yourself and say l will make a decision this weekend or after a trip or after a holiday or when I am older or tomorrow or....see where I am going.

There’s never going to be a perfect moment. The moment is now!

Moms, Women, No Explanation Needed...Go Take care of yourself!

(Upper right pic top last year vs this year)

(Fall 2016 purple jacket)

This is my third year going to the Cape with girlfriends and it makes me a better person. Why? Because it helps me relax and reconnect with myself. Take care of  just me just for a few days.

Why aren’t we encouraging women to do more...for themselves. Why does there have to be an explanation for me or you or moms or women to go away. Take a break. Do something for themselves?

I checked on my girls and my little one said her Dad told her I wasn’t away for work. No I am not I told her. I am with my friends and will be home in a couple of days. It rubbed me wrong. He was telling the truth but he could of comforted her saying “mom is away to take a little break and it’s ok. It’s ok to do something for yourself. She will be back don’t worry.”

I think as women we need to also encourage this with our kids. It’s ok to take care of yourself. It’s ok for “you time”.

We think we have this duty to always put everyone first and no one does the same for us. You won’t even know the prep that went into me leaving for four nights. Gratefully my Mom is helping but I still had to make sure everything was in line for them. Plus with our parenting schedule I left on a schedule when the only day I needed coverage on my day was Sunday.
Reality is if I wanted to leave for a week or two weeks or a day or three days it’s all ok because it’s my choice. My decision and there’s nothing wrong with that.

Men just kind of get up and go. You take care of yourself and that’s fine but do us women complain? Do we question you? Do we say Daddy is off having fun like it’s a bad thing? No!

I come from a family of women. Strong. Independent. I have to remind myself regularly why I chose to raise kids as a single divorced mom. For myself. For my own peace of mind. For them to know how a woman should be treated and loved. Yet it’s not them who need to be taught that. It’s unfortunately society.

Yes mom is away and guess what be happy for her.

Yes you need an escape. So don’t have anyone question it or act like it’s wrong. Self love and self care are extremely important and necessary in life.

No more explanations. Go take care of yourself! I will be here having your back and applauding you!

Could He Handle A Free Spirit?

Not everyone can handle a free spirit and that is ok. Doesn’t mean you need to change.

I Scream You Scream We All Scream For...

Four Seas ice cream is a must when visiting the Cape. There are times we would come here every night. The greatest thing about this place is that we have been coming here for 20 years and it’s still amazing. Same flavors. Consistent. Oh so worth every calorie and cheat meal moment.

I am not a simple ice cream eater. I like it done up. Toppings, different flavors and textures. I never get one flavor plain.  I mix them to add toppings. The most simple I get is vanilla ice cream with mini marshmallows.

My usual go to is: black raspberry ice cream with hot fudge and peanut butter sauce. This combo is amazing. I have been eating this sundae since I was a child.

It’s crazy how ice cream brings out the kid in us. How visiting places bring back great memories. How the little things in life can make you happy.

If you’re in the area you have to go here. We even bring back ice cream every year. Peach is always then number one requested flavor.

How To Eat A Lobster...But did you know...

I must say dinner last night was full of laughs. I grew up eating lobster. Even my daughters eat lobster. I did have a cousin who feared lobsters so much that he would run and hide whenever my mom made them.
But I have been eating them for as long as I could remember. Steamed. In an amazing tomato sauce that my mom makes. Grilled. Chilled. You name it. I am always wary about ordering them out at restaurants while because I don’t always like how places clean them. I can’t see any green or it grossed me out. So normally I just eat it at home whole.

Luckily we know how to eat a whole lobster. So last night one of our girlfriends decided to order a whole one for the first time. She’s had parts of it. Lobster rolls etc...but never the whole deal. The other two girls always order it in the Cape. It’s their go to.

We then spent the time explaining  how to open it. What meat to eat. Where to get the meat. How to crack the areas to pull out the meat and then...lots of laughs and fun.

Then the bus boy comes up to us.

He’s like you ladies did a great job. But you’re missing one part of the lobster to get the meat from.

He now had our attention...

He grabs the shell of the tail. Pulls off the end flaps and squeezes out the meat from the telcons- the little flaps on the end of the tail. We are all in shock. We had no idea. Now the amount of meat you get isn’t much. It’s like the legs of the lobster. But so fun to eat.

I had to take a video and send it to my mom. The lady who eats whole lobster straight out of the fridge for breakfast had no idea that she was missing some meat. But all jokes aside how many of you knew this?

Feel Good Song: What A Feeling

20 years ago this song came on. We were in our college dorm room. She sang “what a feeling” and somehow fell off the top bunk on to the floor. She didn’t get hurt, luckily, but last night when this song came on after dinner in the car, it sure brought back a ton of memories and even more laughs.

Master The Art To Remain Calm

It’s an everyday job. To process. To not let people get the best of you. Try to remain calm and enjoy the  moments that bring your soul peace.

Can Your 6-Pack Do This...

No 6-pack here but three babies did come out of here so that’s pretty damn impressive.

Love your body. Your imperfections. Your uniqueness. Anyone who truly loves you will look beyond your flaws. They will see it as the character that builds you and makes you the special person that you are!

This Is A Good Life...

I am at my happy place....and the moments we share just make it even better.

Even if it’s just once a year, it’s still enough to make my soul happy.
