When Things Get Real...

I didn’t want my Dad going to the grocery store so I went early this morning. It wasn’t bad at first then random shelves were empty. Like bananas and canned food items. Of course no toilet paper or cleaning products. Baby wipes where gone. But it was weird to know we all were there not knowing when we would be back.

I started adding extra items like pasta and canned fruit. I actually couldn’t even think straight. I tried to imagine dinners for the girls and lunch the next couple of weeks. People are around you in masks and plastic gloves. I couldn’t mentally plan.

The stores aren’t restocking the same day. I heard shipments come in. They restock shelves night before and done again until the next night. There is plenty of food but if you’re selective you have to get there when they open.

The aisle for checkout was all the way to the end of the store. I waited to checkout for fifteen minutes. Once you got near the self checkout they assigned you to a register to stand in.

I don’t have anxiety. Gratefully. But I will tell you this virus and closing and selective isolation can really bring out some anxiety in people. Try to relax. Try to know it’s only temporarily. It will go back to normal again. There is no shortage of food. We will be safe.
Try to calm and have extra patience. Try to make this process as enjoyable as possible and try not to go out. We can be carrying this virus and passing it along to people who can’t fight it like we can. Let’s try to just enjoy the process.

Let’s Reconnect

It’s true. Always try to look for a positive in every situation.

So far we have done the beach. Made play dough. Played basketball. This week’s agenda is bake a cake. Celebrate St Patrick’s Day home, make ice cream and make soap.

I live for these moments with my kids where we can be creative together. Just wish a virus didn’t have to push as back together. To keep us home. To connect with one another.

What do you have planned with your family?

When Outside Isn’t Closed

You go outside and enjoy it!

I think we all forget how lucky we are to live so close to a beach. I love it. A friend asked to meet with the kids so they can play and it was the perfect day for it. They played for hours. It was gorgeous out.

With all these restrictions it’s hard to find a distraction. Gratefully the warm weather helps.

Homemade Play Dough

It was one of those nights. Where we needed a distraction. So I found this simple play dough recipe and decided to make it with the kids. It was super easy and they played for hours.

We didn’t add a lot of food coloring or any scent. Was super easy and fun.

I can’t take credit for the recipe. I found it here

Live In The Now

“What is is what happened. There is not one single thing I can do about it. It’s the past. And the past is dead. Done. The only question is. Who am I going to be today? That’s it”

*Love Yourself Like Your Life Depends on It

I love this paragraph in this book. I really do. Because it’s reminding you to let go. Let go of everything that once was a part of you. It’s your past. Done. Dead. Gone. Now just focus on who you are in this present moment. Who is there by your side today. Who loves you at this exact moment. Who chose you.

Live in the now.

Oh March...No One Could Predict This

You Get What You Feel You Deserve

Love Yourself!

Change Takes Time

We have to remember we are going to have emotions. Good and bad days.  Things don’t just go away overnight. It’s ok to miss someone you once loved. No one understands it until they go through it. We actually still carry them in our heart even if they aren’t present in our life.

But remember it all makes you stronger! The whole process has to happen and take place.

Can You Talk?

It’s been a week of events. At one point I took three calls one after another. My daughter looked at me and said omg what’s going on.

It’s ok I said. Everyone just needed to vent to me but they are ok. Wow mom she said you help a lot of people.

I gratefully have amazing people in my life. Therefore I return the favor always. I have a lot to repay to people.

The calls were hard. Stressful. Their tone in their voices still linger in my mind. Telling me their diagnosis with cancer. One voice filled with fear over a heart attack, another stressed in preparation for the closure of schools another for support on a new position and waiting for a call. Reassuring everyone it’s ok. I am here for you. What can I do to help. Was always my response.

I didn’t realize it until today. Tears shed. Hugs given. Support and thank yous. I just need to let you know they all said....

When was the last time you took the time to be there for someone. I am forever grateful for my people. My go to’s. Be that person for others too.

Today a friend texted me this and I laughed.

“The J I know is not afraid of a fking thing”

I didn’t get that way overnight. The power of support around me helped me be who I am.  Be that person for others too so they too can face anything. Be strong enough to offer love and support to your people too.

Let’s Talk About It: Are You Speaking With Your Kids About COVID-19

Our schools officially close Monday for two weeks. Birthday parties cancelled. Weekend getaways rescheduled. Play dates moved to a later time. Half day today to get preparation work to homeschool. This morning before school I finally said to my girls. Do you want to talk about what’s happening?

They have been really good about the changes. Understanding when it came to cancelling all those activities but I wanted them to be able to express any concern.

My oldest asked if we were in quarantine. No. We are in self quarantine I said. We are electively choosing to stay out of the public and schools are closing to be proactive incase there are cases. Since surrounding cities have cases we are taking same protocols to be safe.

She understood. I packed them wipes and said keep your hands clean. Be sure to not touch your mouth and face.

The truth is we don’t know really what we are doing. We all have different views and opinions. Is it overkill. Probably. But we haven’t faced it yet so we aren’t really sure what we are dealing with.

My advice is to be honest and open with your kids. I asked them not to believe all they hear. To not spread rumors or assume what people are saying is accurate or factual. And I emphasized we have to have extra patience with one another until life can go back to normal routine.

Before drop off in the car ride my middle one said hey mom I said yes honey she said I love you. It almost was like her way of saying mom appreciate your help and efforts and making it ok for us.

We have to remind our kids we are safe and ok and not cause panic. It’s hard for them too. It’s hard for us but we know better. They don’t.

How are you and your kids handling this?

Feel Good Song: Flake

“I know she loves the sunrise”

Thursday’s Sunrise

I always lay in bed a little before getting up. My oldest came in my room at 6:56 am. There’s no school today so I figured there’s no rush to start the day.

“Mom get up at 7:06. That’s when the sunrise will be out”

I just smiled and said “Ok honey I will”.

Sure enough I get up and call for her and we watched an amazing sunrise.

With all the chaos going on around us it’s nice to stop and try to enjoy the little things in life.

Embrace the beauty in your day.

Everything Teaches You Something

March 11th Keep Moving

What’s Being Strong Really Mean?

💗

Create a Positive Direction

The choice is yours!

Create Your Day!

I love my life. I do. It’s not perfect. But it’s awesome. I love being a mom. I love my family. I love my friends. I love the people I am around. My life is spontaneous. Doesn’t mean spending money. Means spending time with people out of no where. Spontaneous fun.

My love sign has always been spending time with me. Words are ok but show me you enjoy my time. Even if it’s just for a couple of hours or for a walk or lunch whatever. I enjoy the life I have and continue to be grateful for it.

The other day I went walking with friends. My friend says Jay is glowing because she’s happy. My other friend he said Jay is always glowing.

It’s not because I am perfect. Nope. A lot of changes still to make and happen. But I am happy. Calm. At peace.

I created my life. No one else to blame. It’s how I wanted it. I love it.

You do the same you created your life and if you’re not happy make changes. I have. It helps. It matters. You are the creator of your life. Everyone in it is because your mind set for it. Everyone out you made it happen. Everyone out is because you didn’t want to make room for them or needed them or they didn’t add value as to what you wanted. Some may have held you down or made you feel insecure. Forget that. You don’t need that. Change your life. You’re the creator.

We Are All In This Together

I was hoping it wouldn’t have gotten out of hand but it did. Now it’s teaching and reminding and tell everyone to just remain calm and wash your hands and to not panic.

When the world around you is falling apart it makes it hard to ignore it. When your family calls from
Italy to say the cities have been shut down. It’s all so surreal. I pray you and your families remain safe and healthy. Have faith that we all will get through this and wash your hands. Don’t touch your face and have faith in what’s meant to be will be.

Take Care Of YOU!

Every Fall Makes You Stronger

“You have already been through so much just enjoy the process now.”

Best advice I received.

Honesty is the Best Policy

Communicate. Even when it’s difficult. Even when you don’t want to address an issue but have to. I knew people married for most of their lives who still can’t communicate well. What’s up with that? What are you avoiding?

Think of all the things you could be enjoying and clarifying if you just addressed these issues. Be real with eachother.
