Maybe Just Maybe This Is Teaching Us Something

We all live a complicated life. Fast paced. We spend too much. We do too much. We don’t realize it until it all stops. Comes to a halt. When we have to stay put. Cook meals. Stay in. Bond with those around us. Where we don’t have distractions.

It’s teaching us something. Not sure yet what but it is. It’s teaching us to live with less. To love more. To appreciate the good. Warm weather means we can go outside and go for a walk. A funny text makes us smile. Good company distracts the time.

People have been kinder. Patient. Helpful.

We don’t need a global virus to teach us or do we. Maybe just maybe we all can learn something.

For those who pass it’s heartbreaking. For those who survived grow from this. 💗

Baking Fun for St. Paddy’s Day

I love baking. I also have a lot of patience when it comes to baking with the kids. I let them do it all
Even crack the eggs. This time I took some chocolate batter and added a twist: baileys.

The kids got their vanilla cake with cream cheese frosting and the adults got the baileys chocolate cupcakes. I must admit they both were delicious and the kids had fun making them.

It’s Been Tough For All Of Us

We’re not even a week in. It’s been a tough situation. I almost hate all the hype and the what if’s and mights and maybes. I am more like give me the facts and then I will deal with it. Especially talk of schools maybe not going back until the Fall. I just feel it causes anxiety and chaos and all along little ears are listening.

My middle one was acting up. I asked her if she was scared. She broke down crying and said yes. I get it I said. So we just hung out and I let her cry it out.

It is scary. It’s hard to have the routine be off. It’s hard to hear about people getting sick and life basically coming to a halt and change.

I know you feel it too. I know your family is overwhelmed like mine. I just say to try to be patient.  Try to be extra loving and try not to jump to conclusions without any facts. We are all living one day at a time. We are all in this together. We all need to be strong and supportive.

I nailed it!

I always make this dish every year and it’s amazing. Only one year I messed it up. Not this time. This time it was perfect. I let it cook 9 hours. Recipe below.

An Irish Blessing For You

💚

Heal Your Mind, Heal Your Body

We have the ability to heal our mind which helps to heal the body. Meditate and during it picture healing hands glide over you. Not touching you. It starts at your head and slowly goes above your body slowly gliding all the way to your toes. As you do this you will feel warmth in places that need healing. Breathe in and exhale the toxic you feel within.

I love this process. I picture me doing it to loved ones too. It’s a healing meditation.

Have Faith....We’re All In This Together

I try not to let it overwhelm me. It is hard. It’s hard for you. It’s hard for me. It’s hard on our kids and families and friends. When we think it’s being overly cautious and then we watch the news and we just want to pray and heal the world and everyone around us.

Remember there’s still good. There’s still beauty in your life and days. We are all feeling the same way. Try to be patient with one another. Try to be supportive and helpful and loving. Try to not let this destroy you but give you strength. 💗

Live Day By Day

Let’s Get Outside It’s Basketball Time

They wanted to stay in their pajamas all day. We weren’t going anywhere so I let them. I LOVE playing basketball. I always have. I must admit I am pretty good at it. I do some crazy shots and even impress myself. We had some laughs and crazy shouting moments when my cool tricks had the ball make the hoop.

Today we played horse. I threw in some tricks. We had a blast. Not bad for a mom approaching the big 4-0. I won one game and lost the second. My middle one is awesome at playing. She can reach the hoop with her shots with no problems. Playing was a great way for me to surpass my 10k step goal.

Luckily this warm weather allows us to get outside and move. I took out the soccer nets. Pumped every ball with air and ran around. We did basketball. Catch. Frisbee. They did some bike time. Was good for us to be outside to get some fresh air. Be creative make this time fun. I started to bring back some things I used to do with the girls before life took over my time.

Goals vs Expectations

When Things Get Real...

I didn’t want my Dad going to the grocery store so I went early this morning. It wasn’t bad at first then random shelves were empty. Like bananas and canned food items. Of course no toilet paper or cleaning products. Baby wipes where gone. But it was weird to know we all were there not knowing when we would be back.

I started adding extra items like pasta and canned fruit. I actually couldn’t even think straight. I tried to imagine dinners for the girls and lunch the next couple of weeks. People are around you in masks and plastic gloves. I couldn’t mentally plan.

The stores aren’t restocking the same day. I heard shipments come in. They restock shelves night before and done again until the next night. There is plenty of food but if you’re selective you have to get there when they open.

The aisle for checkout was all the way to the end of the store. I waited to checkout for fifteen minutes. Once you got near the self checkout they assigned you to a register to stand in.

I don’t have anxiety. Gratefully. But I will tell you this virus and closing and selective isolation can really bring out some anxiety in people. Try to relax. Try to know it’s only temporarily. It will go back to normal again. There is no shortage of food. We will be safe.
Try to calm and have extra patience. Try to make this process as enjoyable as possible and try not to go out. We can be carrying this virus and passing it along to people who can’t fight it like we can. Let’s try to just enjoy the process.

Let’s Reconnect

It’s true. Always try to look for a positive in every situation.

So far we have done the beach. Made play dough. Played basketball. This week’s agenda is bake a cake. Celebrate St Patrick’s Day home, make ice cream and make soap.

I live for these moments with my kids where we can be creative together. Just wish a virus didn’t have to push as back together. To keep us home. To connect with one another.

What do you have planned with your family?

When Outside Isn’t Closed

You go outside and enjoy it!

I think we all forget how lucky we are to live so close to a beach. I love it. A friend asked to meet with the kids so they can play and it was the perfect day for it. They played for hours. It was gorgeous out.

With all these restrictions it’s hard to find a distraction. Gratefully the warm weather helps.

Homemade Play Dough

It was one of those nights. Where we needed a distraction. So I found this simple play dough recipe and decided to make it with the kids. It was super easy and they played for hours.

We didn’t add a lot of food coloring or any scent. Was super easy and fun.

I can’t take credit for the recipe. I found it here

Live In The Now

“What is is what happened. There is not one single thing I can do about it. It’s the past. And the past is dead. Done. The only question is. Who am I going to be today? That’s it”

*Love Yourself Like Your Life Depends on It

I love this paragraph in this book. I really do. Because it’s reminding you to let go. Let go of everything that once was a part of you. It’s your past. Done. Dead. Gone. Now just focus on who you are in this present moment. Who is there by your side today. Who loves you at this exact moment. Who chose you.

Live in the now.
