Jones Family Farms in Shelton is the best place to go Pumpkin Picking. There is so much entertainment for the kids and family. There is a tractor hay ride, corn maze, wood houses for the kids to play in. Thousands of pumpkins to pick from, all different shapes, colors and sizes. Truly not Fall without a trip here. Sunflowers In Bloom: Oh How You Make Me Happy

All I wanted to do was see the Sunflower fields at Ambler Farms over the summer. When we finally went in August they were already gone. I was so bummed and moody and thought next time I am going to go alone. We always focus on making other people happy all the time that sometimes we need to learn to make ourselves happy too. So today I was super excited and pumped to see the sunflowers in full bloom at Jones Farm in Shelton. I lite up. Then I came across one smiling and thanked the universe for that magical moment. People think it takes a lot to make someone happy but reality is if you just listen to them their needs aren't really that big and happiness isn't that hard to give.

When To Step Back & Reflect

I took my middle one to Stepping Stones Museum the other morning while her sisters where in school. I like spending one on one time with my girls. I feel
it gives me a chance to reflect and connect with them. So there's a blackboard there and an area for adults and kids to write a message. The top board says "Adults, how do you want your kids to feel?" So I wrote Happy. I asked my daughter. "What makes you happy? Draw it for me" She replied "You make me happy Mommy"

If was really heartfelt and had me take a step back and reflect. Life is crazy. There's some situations adults go through and try to keep things normal for the kids and sometimes you can and sometimes you can't. But our job as a parent is to protect our kids and make them happy and feel loved and secure. That's what parents need to fight for. That's what parents need to make as their lifetime goal.

Pumpkin Fun...Hayride...Crafts...Hello October!

Not sure what got into me today. I had this burst of energy and wanted to embrace Fall, the summer feeling weather, Halloween and pumpkins! For $5.99 I picked up a kit with three small pumpkins and paint kit from Stop & Shop. So the girls each painted a pumpkin. Then I pulled out all the decorations and found Halloween crafts so we made spiders. After dinner I wanted to have some Fall fun so we went to Stew Leonard's in Norwalk and for $1 a person did their hayride.

I love Stews because they really put on a fun little display, hayride, cool pumpkins, a little spooky fun area for pictures. Of course we stopped for ice cream and the girls had their pumpkin ice cream. My sister and her hubby got maple- amazing! Was a great day with my three pumpkins!

Lead By Example...So They Say

It's hard being a Mom. It's even harder being a Mom of girls. See they watch who you are, how you handle situations and look up to you. You need to lead by example, yet, we can give advice and it's hard to take ourselves. They watch life's journey and downfalls, they watch you at your weakest moments and strongest moments.

Lead by example, is harder then one may think!

Piedmont Club In Darien

Last night I popped in the Piedmont Social Club in Darien for a drink and to play darts. I got to see their hall upstairs that they rent out to non members for parties and meetings. Absolutely gorgeous. It's always great to have these places available for when you have a party or event to throw. They are also open everyday for drinks in their lounge area. Drinks are very inexpensive. Drafts $3-$4. I don't think I saw anything for over $6. They also have some cool bar games, a pool table, juke box and big screens TV for the games.

If you're ever planning a party or need a easy night out then go check it out http://www.piedmontclub.org/

Parenthood: Making Your Kids Happy Even If They Cheer for the Wrong Team

We are Yankees Baseball Fans. We meaning her dad,my dad, my sister... Yet my oldest daughter has switched gears and became a Mets Fan. One may say to bust my hubby or because her cousins are fans or because one day she heard a controversial story about a Yankee player and changed gears. Regardless two years later I found myself buying Mets shirts for the whole family and heading to Citi Field. My husband joked he was putting on a Yankees jersey but after some time
gave into the fact that as parents you do a lot of things you don't want to do to make your kids happy.

Her school was doing a Mets Game to raise money for PTO so we can voucher we did it for a good reason but reality is the kids had a blast and I got to
Check out the stadium . I say the next game should be the Boston Red Sox. I mean while we are at it we might as well check out the team I loved growing up- even if it was just because I loved the team colors.

No Pie Crust Needed Apple Crumb

No pie crust needed for this delicious treat! Core the center of the apples. I used a spoon to scrape out the center. Chop apples. In a pan melt a stick of butter. Mix apples and butter. Add in cinnamon and sugar. Add flour and water mixture ( 1 tablespoon of flour, 2 tsp of water) to the pot. This acts like a thickening agent. Mix and turn off.
In a separate bowl add a box of yellow cake mix. Add 1 tablespoon of brown sugar. Mix. Top with 1 stick of melt butter. Scoop apple and butter mixture into apples. Top with yellow cake mixture. Bake at 375 for 45 mins. Delicious! This recipe filled 16 apples.

Apples and Proposals...

Apple Picking At Blue Jay Orchards in Bethel CT

Nothing prepares you for the fun of Fall like Apple Picking. It was tough this year where to decide to go since we have been to a ton of Orchards but we wanted to try someplace new and had no regretss  Blue Jay Orchards in a Bethel was perfect!  No big hills. Delicious apples, gala was our favorite.  You walk across the street and they have a scenic hayride $4 a person or go in their store and pick up your pies, Apple cider and of course cider donuts. The market is filled with amazing goodies and pretty big  too. So you get a small bag for $20 or large bag for $40. I know sounds expensive but we picked a ton of apples and it's a day out. Love creating these memories with my family. My father wants to go back in a couple weeks when his Macouns will be available to pick.
