It’s Ok To Brag…Right?

She received four awards yesterday including the President’s Education Award.

Where did she come from??

She graduates middle school today. I can’t believe I will have a kid in high school. But I am so so excited to see what she will do. Who she will be and the amazing opportunities she will have.

How did I get so lucky?

Ms. Smarty Pants

She’s going into Highschool. HIGHSCHOOL. How do I have a daughter who will be in Highschool?

Last week she got her award and there was a ceremony for her getting into the National Junior Honor Society and I could not have been more prouder.

I hope she never changes. I hope she continues to be who she wants to be.

Past Pain…It’s Your Responsibility to Heal

Unburying. A process where everything you suppressed gets exposed. Dig it up. Feel. Heal.

I wanted to return to being happy and honestly not giving a crap about a lot of things. I wanted to go back to being carefree and not let things absorb my energy.

I am working on that. Are you working on your crap?

Oh June…Been Looking Forward to You

Let’s leave May behind….My biopsy results were inconclusive. We battled a house full of the Flu. A big surgery is coming up for a loved one.

May came and went and June brings something new. Excited adventures. A big blended family road trip and memories for the kids to cherish.

Oh June welcome and I hope you’re good to us!!

You’ve Been Through Enough

Love this!

Lalibela Ethiopian Restaurant In New Haven

Finally got to try Ethiopian food and boy was it an experience. No utensils needed.

My boyfriend has told me about this place and today he took me before my appointment.

We got the sampler and got to select 4 dishes to try. Yemesir Wot- lentils, Tikel Gome- yellow potatoes and onions, Doro Wot- chicken and Siga Woot- beef.

My favorite was the Siga Woot- Ethiopian Beef Stew and Tokel Gome- yellow potatoes. Meat was a bit spicy but mild and it was delicious.

You pick up the bread called  Injera as a utensil and scoop up the food. *Injera is like a spongy sour dough bread. It looks like an ace bandage.

Really fun experience and interesting flavors.

Here We Go Again…

I made my drive up to New Haven. It’s been 9 years. Cancer free and then it happened again. They found something on my scan.

As I drove up all I could think about is 9 years prior. The feeling of what was happening to me and why. I felt great. Who would think I had cancer. So when my report showed a nodule where my thyroid was removed I didn’t know how to feel.

I warned my girls I would be coming home with a bandaged. Weird how it bothered them so much last time.

Life is sure funny and strange. Now we wait and hope this isn’t something I will have to face again!

Arrigoni Winery in Portland CT

I have tried their wine before but never went to their winery. It was so much fun!!

I LOVE vineyards and wineries. Just relaxing and get to sip on wine and love cheese plates. We got to listen to music and there was an awesome breeze. The Tasting are great price and we got to take home the glass. They had frozen wine slushies and you can add a floater on top- a shot of brandy or tequila. He did it with tequila and I had it plain. Delicious and refreshing. The winery is huge outdoors. Plenty of space and places to sit.

So much fun and a great Spring afternoon out together with my favorite guy.

Mother’s Day Humor

Scout & Cellar

His mom and step dad are wine drinkers. They sent me these for my birthday for us to try. These will last a couple months but are so fun. They are all natural. No preservatives.

*” We believe in the deliciousness of nature. That's why every bottle of Clean-Crafted™ wine is independently lab-tested to ensure it's free of toxic pesticides and is low in sulfites. Additionally, we conduct a detailed internal audit of all processing aids and ingredients used in our products to confirm we're upholding our rigorous standard on every level.”

Last night we tried the Pip, the Greeter.

So light and delicious. We told them we would send them a review every time we tried a bottle. Check out the store here.

Celebrating Fun…Best Mom Award Goes To

“Mom we want to get you gifts.” So they asked my mom to take them for a ride last week.

They picked out some great stuff. All that said Best Mom. I always loved the handmade gifts. I love the sentimental gifts. I loved they took the time to pick things out.

I hope your day was great.

We started off with a French toast bake for breakfast and church with my boyfriend and all the kids. He’s an atheist so for him to keep coming with us to church makes me fall in love with him every time.

My daughter does chior and they had the moms come up and sing together.

Then was lunch and I watched the Formula 1 race with my father.

I hope you enjoyed your day and were appreciated and loved.

Happy Mother’s Day To All of You

To my mom. My boyfriends mom. To all the role models around me.

This is the hardest yet most rewarded job. Moms. The sacrifice. The jump at any moment to be there. To the days we plan and change out of no where. To the restless nights. To being a role model to these little people who look up to us and at times take us for granted.

Today is them saying thank you. For a reminder that you’re loved. ❤️

Are You With Your Soulmate?

❤️

Birria at Mil Sabores

This place is simple yet delicious!! Mexican & Venezuelan Authentic Fusion located in Bridgeport. We went over weekend. It’s BYOB. I have been dying to try it. I have seen posts and they have a food truck in Norwalk.

The Birria Quesitaco was so good. I love the coup of consome it comes with. You dunk the crunchy taco in it.

Great price. We sat outside. The ambiance is nothing fancy but food is worth it!

Want A Happy Life?

It starts within!

Changing Your Path…Curses Can Be Broken

Europeans….We are passionate. Loud. Aggressive. We love hard. We feel. Our emotions are strong.

I decided I didn’t want that anymore. I didn’t want to be around it. I didn’t want my kids to grow up like it.

I decided to really focus on my emotional intelligence. To not get mad when triggered. To communicate as much as possible.

I now am not phased by many things. Things that once consumed me. No longer do.

I broke a “generation curse” which means “ making the conscious decision to stop practicing, absorbing, and passing on toxic behaviors and personality traits.”

These are not just your family traits they are traits you marry into. They can be traits you see around you. They can be traits of your peers.

I still love hard but want my kids to grow up in a calm atmosphere where they think before reacting. Where emotions don’t get the best of us. Where emotional intelligence is top priority with being a good person.

It has to start someplace. What “generation curses” have you put to an end? What cycles have your broken?

Kentucky Derby Fun at The Spread Sono

The Tatami Room at Sakura in Westport CT

This was really cool. You walk in. Take off your shoes and sit on a mat on the floor, the table is build into the ground so your feet hang. They have slider doors so you’re extremely private in the room.

There’s no fee. They just include a 20% tip in your bill. Was a lot of fun to experience. The waitress looked so tall as you sit on the ground and get served.

I love at this age we find so many different things to experience together. He even had them sing to me for my birthday. Next we get to enjoy my gift of us taking Salsa dance classes together. Was really special to experience something unique in a restaurant I have been a hundred times. Was a great birthday night!

Be sure to experience it.

Are You Feeling My Vibe?

❤️

Turning 4– Happy Birthday

I didn’t mind it… growing a year older today. Sounds silly I know. My life isn’t perfect but I am happy. The happiest I have been and with that being said it’s great and an honor to grow older and turn 42 today.

As I walked down memory lane I have great memories with my kids, family, boyfriend and twin.

Life has been great to me and I am grateful for that!!

What’s Your View On Love and Relationships?

I grew up where my parents were best friends. Lovers. Companions. My mom would cook and have music on. My dad would walk in grab her and dance.

I wanted my girls to know what love was. Real. Honest. Pure love.

I was determined for them to see a calm. Happy love.

Our relationships influence what the kids view love as. How they choose their partners. How they treat their partners. They mimic us. Be sure to set a good example.

Process of Healing is Feeling

I listen to music as I work. This song came on and it felt like someone punched me in my gut. I was going to change it but decided not to.

Healing is about feeling. Unburying it all. You can’t hide from pain. You have to face it.

In 2019 I went through something that broke me. It takes a lot to break me but this situation broke me. My own divorce didn’t even affect me like this did. That’s why I write. If everything was perfect you would have nothing to write. If I write a lot I am overwhelmed if I go silent I am at peace.

Alanis Morissette best work came after a heartbreak.

So I listened to the song and I smiled at the end. Because that gut pain didn’t last. That gut pain reminded me I had to go through that to learn to never be in that position again.

Journeys happen so we can reach a destination where we don’t let the same things bother us or hurt us. I have done years of work to be at peace. My journey today is different than in 2019. I don’t even recognize myself back then.

You owe yourself the same thing. When something triggers you face it. When you feel pain unbury it. Listen to the song. Write. Cry. I don’t care how you do it. Just do it!
