Williamsburg Virginia

I remember as a kid going to Amish Town in Pennsylvania. I remember wondering why my mom made us come here and guess what I always reference back to it because we learned so much.

So on our way home from our trip I wanted us to check out Colonial Williamsburg.

So much history.

It was a hot day so kids got tired fast but we walked around and learned a lot. We saw the old capital building. We saw how court houses were set up by the King of Britain. We saw how they made clothes- 10 hours by hand to stitch a dress.

My oldest appreciated it because she learned about it in school.

Was a good experience. I wouldn’t go back but glad we did go.

Happy 4th of July

Fireworks. Pool time, cornhole and lots of food.  I hope you had a great 4th of July! 🇺🇸

Summer Dos

The other day my oldest asked me when we can go for haircuts. Today I said. I called our hairdresser and luckily she squeezed us in.

I used to be particular with their haircuts. Now I realize it’s just hair and will grow back so I said pick what you like.

They actually came out really adorable. My youngest went the shortest and very bold of her. She’s always a fashionista.

Luckily they all loved how it came out.

OH Connecticut How We Love You

I was in Williamsburg Virginia and saying to my boyfriend and the kids how it reminded me of Georgia when a woman walking by heard me and said she was from Georgia. We started talking and she said she was driving through Connecticut and asked us where she should go.

Automatically I said Mystic. It has cute shops and history. The aquarium and seaport are entertaining. There’s even a Vineyard and you can kayak the Mystic River. Mystic Pizza is a fun spot.

Later that night my boyfriend and I were talking about Connecticut and starting listing off what else we could have suggested.

The casinos. Maritime Center. Stepping stones. The water falls. Etc….

This article definitely should be added. How many of these places have you visited?

Washington D.C Great Experience For The Kids

I remember coming as a kid and loving it. At the time maybe it was a bit much. I believe I was 9. Same age as my middle one. I always wanted to bring my girls.

A friend told me you can write  to our congressman Jim Himes and request tours. The tours are free. We were able to get a tour of the Capital

It’s gorgeous. It’s hard and sad to believe last January what took place here. It was great for the kids to see a piece of history.

We walked into this room and I got flashbacks.

I remembered  coming as a kid. Was so beautiful. I hope the girls appreciate the time we spent. We want to come back for a longer weekend so we can do more tours.

We Are Off…On Our Road Trip

Been waiting for this day. To get up early and hit the road. First overnight stop Washington D.C. How I love D.C. we have a tour at the Capital. The goal is making stops along the way. Overnights in Myrtle Beach and Williamsburg VA. Then Delaware and back home.

I told everyone if this works out 2024 will be the Mid-West road trip.

My lifetime goal is to go to every state. Even though I have been to all of these it’s great for my kids to experience. They can’t wait.

Fingers crossed this goes as planned!!

Did You Know Frozen Blueberries

Sacrifice to Get What You Want

It’s been a busy couple of weeks and as things die down I get to process them.

I found myself crying. Not for sadness but for relief. Everything started to hit me.

I made a lot of life changes the last five years. A lot and every time I kept going I said it was to make me
Happy. To give my kids a happy and safe home. I always knew one day I would see the sacrifice. That it all would be worth it. One day came. It hit me in the face. It struck at my heart and I felt the emotions.

The sacrifice showed as everyone I spoke to praised my kids. As my oldest stood up infront of hundreds of people.

Did they create their success. 100%. Did my sacrifice contribute to it. 100%.

My story isn’t to brag or to give me credit. My story is to tell you that making the right decisions for your kids and family never goes unnoticed. When you’re in it you think what am I doing and am I doing the right thing. I must say I never ever looked back only forward. I fought a fight that I am still fighting just so my kids can be happy and see me happy and safe and good. Your fight will always be rewarded. Never ever doubt that!

One More Day Until The Memories Start

Oh road trip…here we come!

She’s Off…To Great Things

She’s off to high school. Last night she won the Scholar Leader Award at her graduation. Three kids out of 245 received it. I couldn’t believe it. It’s so surreal as a parent. You sacrifice so much to make sure they are good, happy people and when she gets announced in front  of hundreds of people you think omg that’s my kid. Such a honor to be her mom. So worth every sacrifice I ever made.

I have a feeling she’s going to do big things one day! BIG ❤️

It’s Ok To Brag…Right?

She received four awards yesterday including the President’s Education Award.

Where did she come from??

She graduates middle school today. I can’t believe I will have a kid in high school. But I am so so excited to see what she will do. Who she will be and the amazing opportunities she will have.

How did I get so lucky?

Ms. Smarty Pants

She’s going into Highschool. HIGHSCHOOL. How do I have a daughter who will be in Highschool?

Last week she got her award and there was a ceremony for her getting into the National Junior Honor Society and I could not have been more prouder.

I hope she never changes. I hope she continues to be who she wants to be.

Past Pain…It’s Your Responsibility to Heal

Unburying. A process where everything you suppressed gets exposed. Dig it up. Feel. Heal.

I wanted to return to being happy and honestly not giving a crap about a lot of things. I wanted to go back to being carefree and not let things absorb my energy.

I am working on that. Are you working on your crap?

Oh June…Been Looking Forward to You

Let’s leave May behind….My biopsy results were inconclusive. We battled a house full of the Flu. A big surgery is coming up for a loved one.

May came and went and June brings something new. Excited adventures. A big blended family road trip and memories for the kids to cherish.

Oh June welcome and I hope you’re good to us!!

You’ve Been Through Enough

Love this!

Lalibela Ethiopian Restaurant In New Haven

Finally got to try Ethiopian food and boy was it an experience. No utensils needed.

My boyfriend has told me about this place and today he took me before my appointment.

We got the sampler and got to select 4 dishes to try. Yemesir Wot- lentils, Tikel Gome- yellow potatoes and onions, Doro Wot- chicken and Siga Woot- beef.

My favorite was the Siga Woot- Ethiopian Beef Stew and Tokel Gome- yellow potatoes. Meat was a bit spicy but mild and it was delicious.

You pick up the bread called  Injera as a utensil and scoop up the food. *Injera is like a spongy sour dough bread. It looks like an ace bandage.

Really fun experience and interesting flavors.

Here We Go Again…

I made my drive up to New Haven. It’s been 9 years. Cancer free and then it happened again. They found something on my scan.

As I drove up all I could think about is 9 years prior. The feeling of what was happening to me and why. I felt great. Who would think I had cancer. So when my report showed a nodule where my thyroid was removed I didn’t know how to feel.

I warned my girls I would be coming home with a bandaged. Weird how it bothered them so much last time.

Life is sure funny and strange. Now we wait and hope this isn’t something I will have to face again!

Arrigoni Winery in Portland CT

I have tried their wine before but never went to their winery. It was so much fun!!

I LOVE vineyards and wineries. Just relaxing and get to sip on wine and love cheese plates. We got to listen to music and there was an awesome breeze. The Tasting are great price and we got to take home the glass. They had frozen wine slushies and you can add a floater on top- a shot of brandy or tequila. He did it with tequila and I had it plain. Delicious and refreshing. The winery is huge outdoors. Plenty of space and places to sit.

So much fun and a great Spring afternoon out together with my favorite guy.

Welcome to My Blog!!
