Did I Miss National Boyfriend’s Day
I really wonder who comes up with these holidays. I actually missed it. It was yesterday but had to post this because I do love this man a lot.
I love him for different reason than I ever loved anyone. He’s real. Like I can say anything to him. Anything at all. I don’t have to tip toe around an issue or watch what I say or do. I literally can say anything at any moment and he listens.
Listening. Validating.
Isn’t that what we all want. Someone who listens to us. Now he doesn’t always agree with me. BUT he acknowledges when I feel a certain way or when I have a need that’s not being met or when I am upset.
So with that I honor this made up holiday because he’s been my boyfriend for almost 2 1/2 years and he loves all me and accepts all of me. That isn’t easy to find.

Off The Grid in Stephentown NY
We took the kids here a couple weeks ago. Camping off the grid in a Yurt. No electronics, running water or electricity.
They washed dishes in a river and used an outhouse. We cooked on burners outside and inside on a wood stove.
They whittled and played cards by candlelight.
Was a super fun experience and they actually loved it. We found it through hipcamp.com.
Life off the grid was a great experience!

Time To Do Chores
We started this a while ago and stopped and just started again. The rules sort of changed. The kids now get their allowance “they say pay check” on Friday and it can’t be more than $10 a week. I used to put a value on each chore but had to add a max amount. So now they have to do 4-5 chores a week to earn their full $10.
The chores have to be reasonable.
They pick it out of container and that’s what they have to do.
Setup breakfast
Clean up breakfast- put away food and dishes in sink clear off table
Setup lunch
Clean up lunch-put away food and dishes in sink clear off table
Setup dinner
Clean up dinner-put away food and dishes in sink clear off table
Sweep
Take out recycle
Clean playroom
Clean living room
Fill water bottles night before school
Help mom clean out fridge
You can’t add stuff they SHOULD be doing. Like making their bed or putting their clothes away. That’s something they have to do.
Yesterday they took their paycheck in their wallets to 5 Below and got to spend it. They didn’t spend it all. They then scanned their items and had to enter the cash. They were really cute about it.
What chores would you add?

Ambler Farm Sunflower Field in Wilton CT
We go every year. Around this time the sunflowers are in full bloom and it’s my favorite. I always make the kids go and after they thank me.
It’s really gorgeous. Hundreds of sunflowers in a field.
The farm is open to the public. It’s so clean and peaceful.
I love it and make sure to go every August to enjoy the view.

What Mother’s Will Do For Their Children
My girls haven’t had it easy. I must admit. But my job and any parent’s job is to make sure they are happy, healthy and safe.
I must say as they grow and I have more and more parenting time with them I am proud of who they are becoming. Be good to your kids. It’s so easy yet so many parents forget that and are selfish. Loving a child is easy.

Pickleballers…The Great Game of Pickleball
I love tennis but this is much easier to do. I always have a hard time finding people to play tennis with since it’s more intense. I love any type of sport like this; Badminton, Ping Pong, Tennis, Racquet ball and now Pickleball.
I ordered this figuring I would have more luck with the kids.
We love it. It’s fun and easy and gets us moving outside together.

I must admit I got an awesome deal on Amazon for four racquets here

It’s Great To Be 8….
She’s so spunky and stylish. She hates the word no but yet she is the most emotionally intelligent child I ever met.
She doesn’t deal with BS. She’s straight forward. What you see is what you get. She loves fashion and can easily take care of herself. She’s very independent.
8 going on 13.
She’s my youngest and really keeps me on my toes. I always wonder what she will be when she grows up. Whatever she chooses I know she will be amazing at it because she puts pride into the things she’s does and definitely puts up a fight for the things she wants.
Cheers to being 8!

MagiQuest at Great Wolf Lodge Massachusetts
The kids have been asking to do this since we arrived to Great Wolf Lodge.
It’s actually really cute. I was never into wizards and wands growing up but it’s something all the girls agreed on and a gift from grandparents.
They get a wand and upgrade it to a game. Where you go around the lodge finding crystals and getting points and once you to your start another game. Three are available. It can take 3-6 hrs to complete.
They looked adorable walking around the hotel in their capes pointing their wands. All around they have hidden objects to find and you gain points when you “zap” it with your wand.

My Daughter Has Found The Meaning Of Life
She made this shirt last week in camp. She was suppose to participate in a fashion show but missed it because she was sick.
Her friend’s mom dropped off the shirt for us. My daughter did the tie dye and then picked what quote she wanted in it.
She’s already got life all figured out!
Harrie’s Jailhouse in Middletown CT
It used to be a prison. When I heard about it I had to go. We went yesterday for brunch. In the 1850s it had 5 cells in the basement and 7 upstairs and prisoners insinow it’s a restaurant.
The prison was called Pameacha Jail.
They only do brunch the first weekend of the month. We had fun drinks and delicious ricotta cheese toast with honey and fig jam. I topped mine with the fresh fruit that came on the side. We both got a hash. His steak and eggs. Mine eggs and roasted root veggies.
I love an experience. We sat at the bar in the basement which was super cool.
The have a room upstairs that is a cell you can reserve to it in.
The restaurant in is a residential area, tucked away so be sure to not pass it.
