The other night we were watching a show and we realized the date. We turned to each other and said Happy Anniversary.
I said I know this sounds strange but thank you for always being so nice. After all this time you have never been rude to me or impolite. I never will be he replied as he kissed me.
He never raised his voice or belittles me. He never makes me feel silly for anyway I feel or anything I say or do. He never yelled at me. He genuinely the nicest, kindest guy I have ever met. He has never raised his voice to me.
He in return said thank you for after all this time for not turning out to be crazy.
We both laughed and said why is something so normal so hard to come by? Why must I thank him for being nice and he thank me for not being crazy and flying off the handle whenever I am upset.
Why is normal so hard to find? It is so uncommon?
He should be nice. I should not be crazy. These are common things expected. But they do not turn out that way. I have been with many unkind people. He has been with many crazy people. We both didn't deserve that behavior so now we value each other over something so simple. Our relationship works because we can have healthy calm discussions.
Think about the people in your life or have been in your life. How long have they gone without belittling you or being mean? Have they never been crazy. How long have you gone without yelling at them too?
I can tell you normal is amazing. It's refreshing. Be normal!
