Parenthood: Nobody Said It Was Easy
Some days are so hard. The constant complaining and mess. The endless cleaning and diaper changing. No one tells you the difficulties of parenthood until you learn it yourself. You don't quiet get it.
Then the calmness sets in. They run to hug you and kiss you. And you are their comfort zone. I read this article how kids act up when mom is around because mom is where they can be them. Where their emotions can be let out.
It's hard. So hard. I will be real. But it's amazing and these little ones depend on me for comfort and love and being their for them for their good times and bad times. Sometimes I think man I am an awesome mom. Sometimes I wonder which one will end up in therapy over something I did. Let's face it. We all are trying to get it right.
There's NO exact way to be a parent. There's just love. And shelter. And treating them the way you want to be treated. There's a lot of deep breathing and letting things go. There's a lot of trying to get it right. Trying to let them know how much you love them even when they wake you up a million times a night. They came from me and I am their teacher. They're pretty amazing and I will take full credit for it. As for when they act up well then that's when I blame their father! But really no parent can sit back and say they were perfect but just love them. Love your kids and tell them how proud they make you. Praise them. They are just looking for our approval where ironically we are looking for theirs!

My Saving Grace Turned 3
She turned 3 today. She's amazing! Her beauty melts my heart and her sponkyness keeps me sharp on my toes. I wanted her Birthday to be special. She saved my life.
She's also my 2nd child and I felt a lot of events took place that kept me from giving her the attention I gave to my 1st. Cancer while pregnant with her. My Thyroid out 4 weeks after she was born. Left her for 10 days during my treatment when she was only 3 months old. Then I got pregnant when she was 8 months old and was tired a lot. So I always try extra hard to give her love.
She is my quiet one. Very to herself but she's my buddy and extremely smart. She's becoming more Vocal and I love it. I want to make her happy and I think I achieved it. Family party. Stamford Nature center. Out to lunch. Pizza and cake for dinner. Thomas the Train everything. She's my 3 year old. She melts me heart.

When You No Longer Have A Thyroid
Having my thyroid removed has been challenging. At times my body doesn't feel right. I get really tired throughtout the day and my body hurts. I live off Tylenol and really should be in better shape but with two toddlers and working and trying to keep my kids happy at night I am too tired to move. There's a lot you hear about Hypo and Hyperthyroidism. Some relate to people without a Thyroid and some things do not. Living without a Thyroid? Then check this article out.

Defend Yourself
She's my first born and my seven year old love of my life. I am super over protective of her. She made me a Mom. She's my life.
She got into a little fight at school yesterday "Mom he pushed me so I pushed him back. He had to know how it felt. I felt better after ". Ugh I thought here is starts. She's in second grade and an amazing girl. The thought of someone pushing her made me see black but I knew I had to keep calm. My first reaction was to call the teacher and principal but then I said "I am sorry that happened to you. How do you feel about it?""oh I am fine. I am glad I pushed him back. I didn't get in trouble. I stood up for myself. The teacher knew that."
I am not a fighter by nature. I have two sisters and have had my share of alterations but I don't believe physical fighting solves anything, unless you are defending yourself and in that case do what you have to do.
I do believe no one should intimidate anyone. I can't stand bullying. I always had an amazing group of friends and having a twin sister meant I never had to face ANY battle alone. I was lucky I never got bullied or messed around with and if I did it always stopped pretty fast.
Today my daughter came home from school in a good mood. "How did it go with him today I asked?" "oh fine mom he asked me to be on his team and I said he had to apologize first and he did and now we are fine."
These things happen. Do we want them to happen? NO! Do I want to keep her safe and with me forever? YES but so far seems like she has things under control.

Build Friendships Through Every Stage of Life
Last night was our monthly ladies dinner and we celebrated my awesome friend's birthday too. She's not much of a drinker but said after dinner she would have one drink. I wanted to treat her to a chocolate martini but since one place was closed we headed next door. She settled for a Malibu and once the manager spotted her birthday crown he sent over a glass of champagne. It was a group of six of us that chatted, laughed and connected. I still was under the weather so left early.
I tossed and turned alot in bed and kept thinking how great it was to have a group of women in my life. They are my mommy group pals but really have my back and love my children a lot. It's amazing the friendships you build as an adult. You hold on and cherish the friendships you grew up with and don't think you can have a connection so deep with new friends later in life but it does happen.
The key to this is no matter what point in your life you are,connecting with others does happen and is so important. I always say there's always something to learn from another person.
Open up and connect with others at every stage of your life. This group and I have been close for a couple years now and it's so great and fun to have them in my life.

Survived Another Day
I swear this is the story of my life. Now don't get me wrong. I enjoy my life I really do but every night I end up on the couch in the dark and say wow you made it through another day.
It's hard. Having three kids. Working part time. Juggling everyone's schedule. Paying bills. Cooking. Cleaning. Some days I wake up and say hmmm not today but I get up and handle what I have to handle.
It's a gift each day. And through the chaos it's hard to see it but everyday is truly a gift! Some days are easier than others but if you're in the dark, in the silence like me, then everyone pat yourself on the back for making it through another day!

Valentine's Day Everywhere
My orange even knew today was Valentine's Day. Funny this is the second time this happened to me. My neighbor has snow on their roof in a shape of a heart. Valentine's is everywhere. 💛
Valentine's Day Desserts
Fun and easy and yummy too. Whatever your day brings you, hope it's something sweet! ❤️
Heart brownies. Bake in a heart shaped pan.
Canoli dip with heart sprinkles. Recipe below.
Heart sugar cookies. Make your favorite dough and use a heart shaped cookie cutter.
Canoli Dip
I found this recipe online. So yummy and easy.
2 cups of ricotta cheese
1 cup powdered sugar
1 cup whipping cream
1 cup mini chocolate chips
1 tsp of vanilla extract
1 box of sugar cones or waffle cone
Heart sprinkles
Mix ricotta cheese and powdered sugar. Set aside. With a hand mixer beat the cream in a bowl. Set aside. In ricotta mix add vanilla and add in whipped cream mix. Mix with a rubber spatula. Add chocolate chips. Top with heart shaped sprinkles. Break up cones and serve on side for dipping.
