Is The Past An Excuse?
“See you may be happy with certain things but not completely so you linger on the past because of that”
It was the most brilliant thing he ever said to me, besides the one time he suggested I tell someone to fk off until they got their life together. He’s a friend and always gives great advice. He’s very intuitive and actually knows a lot about life. When he speaks it’s like an awakening for me. I always value man friendships. Every woman really needs a guy in her life to help see things in a different perspective.
We tend to hold on to the past and harp on it to avoid the present. Let me explain. If you’re not happy in your current situation we mentally look for distractions. Things to adjust our focus on what’s happening in our life. Like detours. Instead of facing it we harp on something else. Try not doing that. Try focusing on your current situation and mood/ feelings towards it. Whatever you are facing today that makes you unhappy you must fix. Me included. I write to give you advice and for me to take my own advice.
See how that works.
Don’t harp on what has already passed. Fix what’s infront of you. What’s in the present. Stop looking at other things that make you unhappy when reality is your unhappiness is right in front of you all along!
Don’t Let Someone Control Your Emotions
This is hard to do yet extremely important. A lot of times my mood shifted based on the actions of someone else. My goal lately is let me be my true self not a reflection of someone else. So if things don’t go as you like or planned based on what someone else does then learn to let it be. Don’t let it get the best of you. You can only control what you do.

Choose Happiness Over Loneliness...Always!
My parents took me, my girls and my sister with her family away for the weekend. We did Hersheypark and Sesame place. It was the first vaca being a single mom. Sounds crazy right. I take them out all the time but this time it was hotel rooms and packing and lugging and watching with kids. Two big amusement parks. All in three days. Just with one parent, their mom and let me tell you...
Was it work? Hell yeah. But I knew it would be. Of course my parents were there and my sister and her husband with her daughter BUT I still made it a point to take full charge. I always said stay with me. I was the one who made sure no one was responsible for them but me.
I looked in the mirror and in pictures and looked younger. Happier. Refreshed. Even on a kid family vacation. Why? Because I am a free to be me.
See I wasn’t happy and when you’re not happy it shows. I am happy now. I have complete control of my own life. My own path. I won’t settle. Never ever. I will never ever sacrifice happiness again verse fear of being alone and lonely. I will never go through life numb or without emotions. I will never not take a moment and appreciate everything because that isn’t how you’re suppose to live! I did while married. I did in relationships after my divorce. Guess what, no more. If I don’t feel I am being my true self 💯 then I am ok with being alone. Me. Myself. And I. My kids. My life. It’s not the same when you’re really not living or just settling!
Are you living? Are you settling?
The Hotel Hershey: A Must See
This place is a MUST see when you visit Hershey. You don’t have to stay at the hotel to enjoy the scenery or amazing restaurants. It’s gorgeous inside and out. The gardens and grounds are so manicured. You can see the skyline of Hersheypark at the top of the hotel. There are four restaurants. A terrace with music. It’s just amazing. You feel like you’re in a Mansion.
We ate at the Circular. http://www.thehotelhershey.com/dining/the-circular.php
It was beautiful. The staff is incredible. I had the lobster bisque then short ribs and a peanut butter cake for dessert. They give you salted caramel with your check. This caramel is so rich yet amazing. You have to split one square with someone.
I am telling you it’s a must to visit when coming to Hershey. Everyone raved about it. I gained some major bragging points for suggesting we go for dinner. Last time I came with my kids and their dad couple years ago we ate at the Tavern.

Nissley Naughty Marietta...Pennsylvania Bound
About 6 months ago my girlfriend brought this over to a friend’s house we were having dinner at. I have thought about it ever since. It is a semi-dry red wine. On the sweeter side and very smooth.
I have called around for this bottle of wine. But I didn’t have luck finding a store in CT that carried it. When I called the vineyard they said they only distribute to local package stores in Pennsylvania. Last night it hit me. I am in Pennsylvania for the weekend with my little ones. I had to get this wine. I found a local liquor store and walked in and bought all the bottles they had. 6 bottles and when I went up to the register the cashier said the vineyard only allowed a limited amount of stores to carry their wine.
I sent my girlfriend this picture and she laughed. She knew how much I enjoyed the bottle she had me try. “I finally got my hands on a bottle”.
I didn’t have time to go to their vineyard for a tasting but I was glad to be bringing some bottles home.
If you are ever in Pennsylvania be sure to stop by their vineyard or pickup a bottle by Nissley Vineyard.
Cheers to the little things in life! Salute!
This Year....It Is What It Is!
If you have to force it then it’s not worth it. Friendships. Relationships. Whatever. Let it be.
Good people. Happy hearts. Belly laughs. Love deep to your core. Those things aren’t forced. They come naturally. You hold on to those. Cherish them.

How Do You Take Your Old Fashioned?
I had to get it. We were having dinner at the Hershey Hotel in Pennsylvania and I see these on the waitress’ tray. I watch her bring it to a table and then it cracks. She had her back to me so at first I thought she was lighting it on fire but then she told me she cracks it will a mallet.
I’ll take one I said. It was delicious. I shared it with my mother. Perfect after dinner drink and so so clever and fun! Old fashioned is my favorite. I only order one whenever I do get it. It’s a great drink to sip on throughout dinner or just hanging out. I have gotten pretty spoiled with how clever some places make them so whenever I see it presented in a new way I have to order it.
Epic Crunch Goldfish
The kids were so excited to try these. They picked them out at the grocery store. They opened all the bags and taste tested. They are not like the regular goldfish. They are bigger and have more crunch. The flavors varied too. With ranch being their top pick.
They love them...me not so much.
Which flavors have you tried?
Want To Really Heal?
The healing process takes time. You have to dig within and pull everything you buried out. You have to feel. Cry. Be mad. Whatever. Just be sure to deal so you can heal from it. We all have buried emotions and pain. We do things to cover it up. Some people turn to substances to deal, some become obsessed with something to cover up the pain of something else. Most dangerous thing you can do is be numb and feel nothing at all. Peel back the layers to allow yourself emotional freedom.

Asian Steamed Buns
I am huge fan of these. They come a little hard and you steam them so they can fluff up. Tonight I made them and stuffed them with sautéed zucchini and chicken. Was delicious. I like to add a sour cream or hoisin sauce to them as well.

Are You Living Your Best Life?
Let go of anything that isn’t allowing you to live your best life! You’re never stuck. You’re always one decision away from a better life. You can’t fully be happy around anyone unless you’re happy with you, your life, your decisions. Surround yourself with things and people who make your soul happy.
It’s not about having a lot of money or material things. It’s waking up and being happy just to be happy. To have a happy, carefree, content, soul.
You’re cheating yourself if you don’t.

You Can’t Control Everything!
I had to accept this. You can’t control everything. You have to take things for what they are and leave it up
to the universe.
Enjoy the journey and respect the process, not everything you expected to happen happens, everything that hurts us teaches us a little about ourselves. What we will tolerate or not... Who we will love again...What makes us happy and what doesn’t.
Sometimes when you let things be they come back together the way they are meant to, sometimes a complete different path is created for you.
Let’s Make A Deal...
Here’s the thing about women. We always have eachother backs. We always push eachother to see our highest good, to see how amazing we are. Especially when someone else may have not appreciated us like
they should have appreciated us. Even when life doesn’t turn out how we thought it would.
I had dinner with a girlfriend last night. We dated friends and that’s how we became close. Obviously those relationships didn’t turn out how we wanted but we got to meet eachother so that in itself was worth it.
She’s like a warm, big, hug my soul type of gal. Her personality is like no one I ever met. We created goals for one another. We gave eachother a couple weeks to accomplish these goals. Four things we had to do and when we hang out again we had to at least started them, better yet accomplished them.
Goals she created for me:
- Network more- grow my network for work
- Finish a house project I have been working on
- Let the past go- don’t look back but forward 100% at all avenues and angles. We discussed what each situation taught me
- Start reading this book she recommended “Own The Day Own Your Life”
Goals I created for her:
- Look your personality- I asked her to change her look. She doesn’t fit her inner amazing self. I know sounds awful but it’s not. When she smiles she lights up a room and her look doesn’t represent that at all. Her happy, carefree, fun as hell personality is covered up and well she’s excited to change it. I said I wanted to peel your true self out of this mask you have. Climb out of your shell.
- She was starting the book again that she recommended to me.
- She will look at new places to move to create more freedom emotionally.
- Let her past go. She’s better than any man she was ever with and know your worth.
We all need real friends in our life that can look at us and say “know your worth.” “Make this change to better yourself”. “You’re better than that.”
Ladies we have to take this chance in life to help others. She asked what do you want your life to look like? “ I just want to be happy, I want to spread happiness, I want to be carefree and let go of all that has made me not be my true self.”
So do it! Start today.

Breakfast Tip: Jimmy Dean Delights
Now that school is over it was time to load up on snacks in the house. I went to Costco and saw these. I like testing out new products in bulk only when I know other people in the house will enjoy the item too. I must admit these are really good. You wrap them in paper towel and it takes less than two minutes to heat up. Yes the sodium level is a bit high due to the turkey sausage but still not a bad breakfast meal.
I cut out more carbohydrates by removing the bottom part of the English muffin. Even my youngest daughter enjoys it. She said it reminds her of the turkey sausage egg and cheese sandwiches we get at Dunkin Donuts. You get 12 for $11.99.
