I'm Back
Wow, it's been a while since I have posted. It's been a very busy August. I have been spending many of my summer days in the Hamptons, enjoying a wonderful house in Sag Harbor. There is something about going away that makes you focus on your life and your needs and of course relaxation is always key.
My daughter who is now 20 months was loving every second of her vacation. She loves the ocean and the pool at the house. She tried everything we ate and of course approached anyone eating an ice cream cone in hopes that they would share it with her. We learned early on NOT to give her any ice cream before bed time.
On our cloudy days we went to Montack and Shelter Island. We shopped and ate in East Hampton, Sag Harbor and Bridge Hampton. The week and weekends do fly by but the time there is well spent. We started going to the local Farm Stands which carried the sweetest grapes I have ever eaten. We found an ice cream shop that sold non fat vanilla peanut butter ice cream that is to die for!
One of our favorite sandwhich shops is Espresso's, after a week of eating their foccia bread we realized they made wheat foccia bread- which is sooo yummy! Overall, I think I lost weight from lugging all my daughters beach toys back and forth. Our favorite beach is Mecox and for those who have been knows all the sand dunes that do not make lugging stuff easy to do.
Yes, vacations are so different when you have a child. We no longer stay at the beach for endless hours and my husband was amazed at how often my daughter ate. 8:00 bedtimes allowed us to relax outside with a nice bottle of wine from the vineyards. I saw 4 shooting stars in one week- not bad! My mom found a four leaf clover in the yard-guess we are magnets for luck!
I am not putting away any bathing suits until after Labor day! I am not ready to let the cold get the best of me yet! As Summer comes to an end for all of us I hope you all have enjoyed it as much as I have.

Daddy and his Daughter
When I found out I was pregnant I would have been happy either way with what I was having, but once I found out it was a girl all I could do was think about what a great Daddy my Husband would be to her.
I love the relationship my husband has with my daughter. This tough guy melts everytime he sees her and she adores him like no one I have ever seen. Every night after dinner he sits with her watches her favorite cartoons before bed and puts her to bed. If I go out or go to the gym he'll take her to the store or for ice cream.
I love the father he is with her. If I get frustrated with her he has this calm way of making things better. He is a good dad or "PaPa" like my daughter says and I love the man he is when he's with her. I know they will be buddies for life, and like the great "Pop" I have, I am grateful that she has one too!

Are you living the "American Dream?"
The other day I asked my client how they were and they said "Just living the American Dream." Their remark got me thinking. What is the "American Dream,” and are we living it?
I guess when you break it down I can say I am in a way; I am happy, married, have a child, house, cars in the drive way, dogs. I eat out when I want to, take vacations, and vote. But is that it?! Do you really feel you are living the endless possibilities, opportunities, which America has to offer?
I must say that working from home is a wonderful "American Dream" I also feel the freedom we have to be who ever we want to be, live where ever we want to live, go to college, vote, walk into a room filled with people and be surrounded by different cultures are all aspects of the "American Dream."
I guess each individual can define what the "American Dream" could be, and what it really is. Regardless, I guess if we are happy then we must be doing something right! So with all that said lets be grateful to live in a country of endless possibilities and opportunities. Let's all live the "American Dream!"

SING
My daughter's new favorite word is "Sing." She is constantly telling us to "Sing, Sing" it is too funny! She even tries to sing along to the songs on the radio. When she says the word it sounds more like "Siiing." I am already a huge fan of music so I think it is great that she is into it too. I hope she sticks to this new obsession.

Mommy's Night Out
Lately I have been having a lot of nights out, some with girlfriends, other's with family and mostly with my Husband. I hate when I feel guilty going out. Most of the time it is at night when the baby is already asleep, sometimes it is dinner time. The problem is I work from home so I do not have the interaction all day with people. Don't get me wrong I LOVE my life, I am grateful to work from home. But I notice I look forward to my time away from home just to get some air, space and be around people. I know there is no harm in it and everyone deserves it, but I can not help but feel guilty when I do it.
To make up for it I take my daughter to the beach, Stew's or to the pool during the day. I wonder if she will ever really appreciate having me with her? I bet she won't realize it until she has a family of her own. I adore her and adore what life I built for myself.
I was at the gym one day and on the cover of New York magazine was an article titled "I love my children, I hate my life." Pretty harsh if you asked me. But the reality is that we consume so much of who we are into our family and home that we loose a little of who we really are. I guess I gain a little of that when I am out and have to focus just on my self. I gain a little independence and appreciate my family more when I come home.
So for all you mommies out there who ever felt guilty like me, don't. We are actually becoming better people and happier, making us appreciate our family life a little more. This in the end will make us better parents.

Cookbook/Scrapebook
TASTEBOOK is an amazing gift idea. I just did it with my sister's bridal party as one of her shower gifts and she and everyone who participated LOVED it! Basically what it is is a personalized recipe/cook book and you can attach any photos to it.
What we did was contacted everyone we knew who was attending the shower and asked them to please forward a recipe and personalized message to the bride and groom. We then posted a picture to the recipe that included the person who gave us the recipe. It is sooo easy and sooo much fun. Plus they look so profesional and is a great keepsake!!! It was the perfect cookbook/scrapebook in one!

New York City
We spent the day in New York City for the 4th of July. It was my daughter's first time on a train, first cab ride and first time in the Big Apple. She loved every minute of it.
We spent most of the day in Central Park. We took her to the Central Park Zoo and watched the Sea Lion show. The Polar Bears where huge and the Sea Lions were sooo happy, it was so cute. We ate lunch at the Boat House, over looking the pond where everyone was in row boats. It was a beautiful day.
I could not believe how clean the park was. I was so impressed how nice it was and there were hardly any homeless people. There were a ton of people and entertainment all throughout the park. I always loved it there but for some reason I really appreciated it this time around. It was a great day trip and I think my daughter would appreciate it one day! So for all you locals who have been to New York City but never Central Park, make an effort to stop there next time and appreciate all the creativity that surrounds it!

Old Soul
Ever run into someone and feel like you've known them all your life, or have a flashback and can't remember why? Ever feel so connected to someone and you are not sure why? Ever wonder if your soul has had another life prior to yours?
I swear my daughter is an old soul. Things come so natural to her; she is a fast learner and has little fear. It is as if she is doing everything for the second time. The other day we were in the pool and she starting kicking in her float to get to the edge, like it was the natural thing to do, I praised her and she looked at me as if I was crazy. You teach her a word and she grasps it as if she has said it 1,000 times before, she already knows what food she likes and doesn't like before she even tries them.
Ever wonder were your soul has been? I always like to think we are back for a reason or person. Maybe a good marriage is to make up for the bad ones we have had in the past. I like to think bad things happen to make our soul stronger, to give us strengthen for the next time around.
Have you ever met a new soul? I believe I have. They are a little oblivious and some of them are so curious and can not settle down, as if they want to take everything in and are afraid of missing out on something.
You may think I am crazy but think back. Most of us have been here before, some of us will be back, but what is most important is finding out why we are here and how we can make our journey one that we'll remember and never want to forget.

Enjoying My 30's
It's funny when my birthday was approaching last month I was a little bummed about being 30, now a month into it I am loving it! All my life I looked young and yes I still look young but I finally feel like an adult. I know it's hard for some people to relate but now being 30 I feel people take me more serious, I am officially an adult, I am comfortable in my skin and happy. I am finally a woman.
I feel my life is heading in the direction I want it to, I am happy with who I am, what I can be and what it takes to get what I want. Life is good and I am hoping it only gets better!
"I remember the day I turned thirty. I was getting out of the shower and I stood in front of the mirror and stared at myself for a long time. I examined every inch of my body and appreciated the fact that I finally looked like a grown woman. I also assumed that this was how I was going to look for the rest of my life. The way I saw it, I was never going to age; I'd just look up one day and be old. "~ Terry MacMillan

Grow Old With You
I will be married for 6 years this summer and have been lucky enough to have been with my husband for 12 years. Today I had a doctors apt and there was an elderly couple sitting next to one another. The wife went to check in and she had trouble standing. Her husband got up and took her purse and asked if she was alright. She took a seat next to him and he looked at her with great concern. At that very moment it hit me that the man I am married to is the man I want to grow old with.
And yes, when you get married you vow to but has it ever REALLY hit you that the person you are with is the one you want to grow old with? The one you want to have hold your hand when you can hardly walk and speak for you when you no longer have the energy to? Think about it! The satisfaction of knowing I truly want to grow old with my husband brought tears to my eyes.
Yes, there may be men out there that may perhaps be good for me, no one knows but the fact of knowing that I look forward to growing old with my husband puts a smile on my face. One day that old couple could be-will be us, and it made me realize how lucky and truly blessed I am!

Bakeries and Balloons
Have you ever gone to a bakery to pick up a cake and then had to drive across town to pick up balloons? Why can't they just combine the two?! I think all Bakeries should sell balloons!

On-Call Copay
I was shocked when my husband came home from my daughter's doctor’s appointment to notify me that they charged us $15 for calling off hours and speaking with the on call nurse.
My daughter fell a month ago and I called the doctor's office for suggestions on what to look for. The answering service said they were not open yet so she had the on-call nurse contact me. Later that day we brought my daughter in for a check up just to be sure she was ok-which she was.
Never was it ever brought to our attention or mentioned about being a fee to use their answering service. I even called my insurance company that advised me that this was not correct and they should send the claim into them so they would investigate it. Of course the billing department in the doctor's office refused to. They waived my fee after they could feel the fire steaming out of me. But why on earth would anyone charge a patient for something like this? So going forward if there is an emergency and the doctor's office is closed and I speak to the on-call doctor I have to pay for it? What has gotten into these medical practices? No where have I ever read this. I am appalled at them to the point that I was contemplating getting my daughter's records transferred to pediatrics’ practice.
It has come to a point that our medical doctors are money makers. What happened to the days that they actually really cared about the people they were providing care to? I have 5 years experience in the Medical field and am shocked at how that Pediatrics’ office is run. I am also disappointed that the people I put my trust into to care for my daughter is only concerned about the money they are receiving for her care!

Mommy the Energizer Bunny
I must say everyday I am amazed with how much I do. I appreciate all my husband does but I think we all need to give some appreciation to all the mommies out there. It is a tough job, yes rewarding but tough. I am up by 6-6:30 every morning and not in bed before 10:30-11. I go none stop in between. Yes I LOVE IT! I would not trade it for the world, but where the hell did I get all this energy from?!
I remember prior to having my daughter it was hard climbing out of bed at 7-7:30 and no one could call me after 9:30 because I was in bed. Those were the easy days. Now any free time I have I am working, cooking, cleaning, shopping etc...
Yes, it is exhausting but I feel good, I feel younger, healthier. Maybe it is the gym, maybe it's because I am happy, nahh I think being a mommy gives me no choice but to feel like an Energizer Bunny! I need 17 hr days to accomplish all I need to accomplish and yet I go to bed with a to do list for the next day. So for all of you out there next time you see your momma, or go there for dinner or see her cleaning stop to thank her because when you're resting at the end of your day, her day is just getting started!

Easy Dishes to Take Along This Weekend
Invited to a picnic and not sure what to bring? Don't feel like cooking? Well check out these easy crowd pleasers!
- Ice Cream Sandwiches: Pick up a container of vanilla ice cream or any ice cream and a dozen baked chocolate chip cookies (Stew's is my favorite) and make your own ice cream sandwiches. Scope a spoonful of ice cream in the center of two cookies and roll it in sprinkles YUM- who wouldn't like that!
- Chips and Dip: Bring a bag of tortilla chips- blue chips are my favorite- with a mexican layer dip you picked up at the store. Great as an app or side dish!
- Sangria: Get a gallon of merlot ($10 at most stores) a 1/2 gallon of gingerale, a tablespoon of sugar, and a two shots of any fruit flavored liqour you have in your cabinet. Combine and chop any fruit you have in the fridge; I use lemons, oranges, apples, grapes etc.. Chill and serve! (Cut everything in half if only using a half gallon of merlot)
HAPPY HOLIDAY WEEKEND!
HAPPY HOLIDAY WEEKEND TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY!
Every weekend should be a 3 Day weekend!!

Music Soothes the Soul
I love music. I love to hear music when I am happy, sad, tired or mad. I love music so much that ever since my daughter was born I sang to her. No, I am no American Idol but I did notice early on that Music Soothes the Soul and babies, and children love it too!
I began singing to my daughter as a form of distraction for when she was scared, when I gave her a bath or changed her diaper. Til this day I still sing to her as a distraction and she loves it. I even began coming up with my own lyrics to encourage her to brush her teeth; brush brush brush your teeth, brush them every day, brush them top to bottom to keep the dentist away. When I brush her hair I sing; brush brush brush your hair, brush it every day, brush them every day to take the knots all away. I know I am a very silly mom but TRUST ME it works!

Tip on How to Prevent a Mess
You know when you are pouring soup or sauce in a container and it splatters everywhere. WELL...try putting a spoon in the container first and you will be amazed that it prevents this mess. I know what you are thinking... silly tip... but try it! I did by accident and it worked- my spoon fell out of the pot when I was pouring the soup in a container and I left it there, it prevented everything from splattering all over my counter. Amazing, I know!

Today I found out how amazing Chobani greek yogurt is. Try vanilla with a tablespoon of honey. OH MY! 16 grams of protein in 6 oz container. Yes it is about 180 calories but so filling I could not finish the whole thing. Healthier than a bowl of ice cream. Which is what I was going to have tonight so I am happy I chose the yogurt!

What I learned about Children and Lotion
Whenever you apply a new lotion on a baby or child put a little on their leg to test if their skin gets a reaction before applying all over them.

Terrible 2's
I thought I had a couple more months before I would have to deal with the terrible 2's. See my daughter will turn 18 months next week so I figured her attitude was a result of teething. Well, her attitude has been around for the past week and a half.
She literary screams when she is unhappy, wants to get down from her high chair or while I am driving and she is trying to get out of her car seat. She refuses to eat, whines, and is very agressive, demanding and moody. At first I came up with a ton of excuses to defend my little angel, well now it has come to the point that she is no angel!
I am coping with this string of moodiness, tantrums, anger, crying and whining with compassion as if it is a child form of menopause. Hot flashes, sweats, mood swings... see the connection?!

What I learned Today About Tuna
If you rinse canned tuna in water after you have already drained it you will lower the salt and sodium in it and it will not affect the taste at all. Give it a try!

The Power of Prayer
I want to begin this posting by saying I am not trying to preach any particular religion. I am writing based on my own experience and respect people's choices to believe in what they choose to believe in.
The Power of Prayer is like no other. I know when ever things are tough, or when I am sad or even happy I like to turn to the Power of Prayer. We all have different beliefs and I do not care what it is you believe in as long as you have a source to pray to and the reason I say this is because it gives us an unspoken feeling of hope when we feel like there isn't hope. Yes, there are scientific explanations to a lot of things but when we have hope things seem to become easier.
When I was trying to get pregnant a woman came into my husband’s job and said for us to pray, pray a list of prayers and your wife will get pregnant. Yes, granted there were other things we had to do to get pregnant but the list of prayers gave us hope and it helped make the lengthen process easier. Hope helped.
Whenever a family member goes into a surgery I always find myself praying. Yes, the doctors are the ones I need to have faith in, but prayer gives me hope. It gives me a sense of comfort that everything will be alright and if it is not alright then we will get through it.
So whatever you choose to believe in or choose to put your faith into. Remember there is hope. And hope is nothing someone can take away from you unless you let them. Let hope comfort you and be there in your time of need.

Fitness Update
I am proud to say that it has been a month this week since I joined the gym and I am still going strong. YEAH!! I started out with 5x a week, last week I was bad and went 2x but walked 2x and this week has been 3x so far. I plan going at least 1 more time since I have a 3 mile Breast Cancer walk on Saturday morning.
I do use the scale but decided to measure myself to really see results. After 4 weeks I am proud to say:
-I lost 1/2 inch on my neck, arms and chest (not that my chest needed any loosing, ha,ha)
-1 1/2 inch from my thighs
I am one happy girl! I would love to loose most of the inches in my waist since that is my problem area but that too shall happen!
My biological clock is ticking and my husband and I want to have another baby so it is sooo important for me to loose these last 10lbs that wont go away from having my daughter. I know we all say that having a baby ruins our body but the reality is I let having a baby ruin my body and I can not let that happen again.
The gym as been AWESOME for me as a stress releaser with work and other things. Once I am there I can stay there all day. Try it, I know it is hard to get to, really my schedule is so jammed pack that fitting in the gym didn't seem like something I could do. But now that I am doing it is it AMAZING! I go at night after dinner and watch my shows and sweat my butt off. I even did 2 miles in 18 minutes. I burn about 400+ calories in a 35-40 mins work out. It is great. So wish me luck, I am not giving up and neither should you!

Today I Learned about Generics
My daughter woke up with a fever and since the lastes recall I had nothing to give her. So I turned to the internet and googled Generic brands. I went out and bought a generic type of acetaminophen to give her. Generic it is until they straigthen out this recall!
Learn Something New Everyday
They say we learn something new everyday. So I decided to put test that theory. Please feel free to leave me a comment to let me know what you have learned today. Learning makes our brains stronger and our body healthier.
Today I learned:
That SugarCRM is a great tool for Small to Medium Sized Businesses. I am currently learning it for a new client so we have a email based software where we both can view leads, calendars, contact information etc... It is only $360 a yr for their Professional package. It is very similiar to Salesforce.
Enjoy the knowledge :)

My Life
I am at this stage in my life that I need to stop doing what other's want me to do. I need to regain a little contol over my life and do what makes me happy. Most of my friends are not married and do not have a family so it is hard for them to imagine that staying home or having a quiet dinner would make them happy. I am kindof over the party scene, the night life, the $300 dinners and bar tabs. I am happy working part time and gaining a paycheck big enough to feel I am contributing to my household, grabbing a pizza for dinner and spending time with my husband and child on the weekends.
I am over the material things, fancy cars and name brand clothes. I feel at this point in my life I have all I want, all I need, anything extra is not neccessary. It's hard to be the one in the group to feel these way because you may come across cheap or insensitive. And it's not that, it's that a lot of the time we do these things to fill a void we have and right now I don't have that void. If I could stay this way forever I would be happy. I love my house, my daughter, my husband. I am not giving up or saying an occasional treat is not nice, but I feel like I am always on the go, always trying to please someone, always dishing our money and not really enjoying myself.
I can not image that everyone could understand where I am coming from, but I can assume I am not alone. I am a wife, a mom, a worker, I have responsibilties and staying out until 2:00 am to wake up the next day and perform my responsibilites are not feasable anymore. I just can't do it and I feel it should be ok to not want to do it. I am putting a stop to what other's want from me and doing what I want. I apologize if anything gets offended but at the end of the day it is me who needs to be happy, as for yourself to all of those who do what I do.
Do what makes you happy in life because in the end that is what really matters!

Communication-The Key to a Good Marriage
I will be the first to admit that my husband and I argue. Sometimes we argue over the simplest things, sometimes we are argue over things not worth arguing over. But this open line of communication we have works for us and actually makes our marriage good.
I am old enough to have seen many marriages fail and fall apart and the number one reason COMMUNICATION. Yep, lack of communication has ended many relationships. Why is it that we feel we shouldn't be able to say what we feel, or tell someone when they did something wrong or hurt us. Your partner may not agree and the fight may last a little longer but isn't it worth discussing. I have said plenty of hurtful things to my husband during arguments which were wrong, but at least we opened up to another and built this relationship based around an open communication system. Say sorry when you do something wrong, discuss an issue at the time it is bothering you!
Why do we bottle up what bothers us, why do we look towards a third person to make something better for our relationship instead of turning to our mates? Fighting is good, but it has to be within means. No physical, verbal or mental abuse is necessary. But telling your partner when something is bothering you is important. It is the only way they will know it and by discussing it you are allowing a solution to be formed.
We have one life, and it is too short to have anger built inside of us. Yes, no one likes telling someone the truth about how they really feel if they think it will hurt someone, but it is worse to keep things bottled up inside. You can work through the hurt with a loved one, but keeping it in will only make things worse!
Communication is key to a marriage, it is so important and should not be dismissed. I always think of John Mayer’s song; Say What You Need to Say, my favorite line is:
“It’s better to say too much, Than to never say what you need to say again.”

MOMMY MUST HAVES Part 1
When I was pregnant I really did not have anyone so close to turn to for questions and advice. So now that I had a baby I LOVE sharing my tips and findings with other moms!!
Below is a list of baby MUST HAVES. I am no expert but I promise you will find these all to be very handy and useful!
• Baby Trend Snap Stroller- these are great because they are light weight and easy to store. Remember Mommies that you are most likely going to be doing this alone so you need to be the one most comfortable with it! http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2327597
• Baby Trend Car Seat- this is light and perfect for newborns. This will lock into the Snap Stroller and the slides on the back of the car seat slid right onto the grocery cart. Mom's image carrying this and a 10lb baby- you have to make sure you are comfortable with it. http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3792567
• Nail Filers-Babies nails grow too close to their skin so using a nail clipper can be dangerous. So stock up on Nail Filers- actually one will last you forever!
• Sleeveless Onies-These are perfect for the summer for babies or toddlers. Girl’s dresses go perfect with them and baby boy tanks too. http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3792567
• Bundle Me- This is a must! You will hate pulling your newborn in and out of a big heavy snow suit. Instead buy one of these and your baby sits right in it without the need for a jacket or blanket. Plus it is sooo cozy! http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3417080
• 3 in 1 Shopping Cart Cover- For $25 at Toys R Us you can get a mat that rolls out to be a play mat, high chair cover for restaurants, and cart cover. But it also can be used as a changing mat when you are at restaurants, just take it off the high chair and roll it out as a changing mat. Genius!
• Entertainment for Baby Must Haves: Exersaucer, Swing, and Bouncy Seat. Trust me you'll need all three.
• Bumbo: Perfect for when baby is starting to seat up and eat cereal. http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2792523
• Avon Moisture Therapy Hand Cream- This lotion is amazing. Babies have very dry skin and since my daughter was born I put this on her. It also helps when they get chapped skin from teething. Remember to always test new products on babies by first applying a small amount to their leg to make sure they do not have an allergic reaction. http://shop.avon.com/shop/product.aspx?pf_id=38612

Meatballs Minus the Sauce
My daughter loves soup. She also loves meatballs. So I decided to do what every mommy would do, I made her meatball soup :)
Some of you may know this as the Italian Wedding Soup, which is funny because I am 100% Italian and have yet to be served this soup at any wedding I have been to. But it is similiar to it. I remember my mom used to make this for my Nonna when she was sick, so now every time I make it I think of her.
It is sooo easy, trust me, it took me more time to clean the pots then to throw this together. So first make the meatballs, make sure you make them bite size. No need to fry them, you can put them in the toaster oven and set it to 375 for 20 minutes until they are golden brown. Then make the soup while this is cooking. Once the meatballs are done add them to the soup. This is when I usually add some pastina or orzo. Let it cook for 20 minutes and ta da! Meatball soup to soothe any baby, toddler or mommy's appetite!

Start Focusing on the things You CAN Change
We tend to cause more drama and stress in our life then for what it's worth. I believe if we all start to focus on the things we CAN change and let go of the things we can't we would be a little bit happier in life.
EX:On the way home from dinner tonight there was a car infront of me that kept driving towards the cars in the other lane. The only thing I could do was beep to try to wake the driver up to prevent them from getting into an accident. Was it scary, yes, could I do anything to prevent something bad from happening besides honking my horn, no. Thankfully they pulled off the road.
EX:When my husband and I were getting married we had to go to a pre-cana wedding course. I'll never forget when they told us that "noise"- which they mean drama, stress, fueds, out side of our house and marriage is considered to be static- static that causes tension and stress that is not in our control, therefore we should not let it our affect our marriage.
Life is kind of like that in general. How much "noise" and "static" do you have in your life that you directly have no control over and can not fix? I am sure if you think about it's a lot more than you think. So start today by letting it go, start today by focusing on the things WE have control over, DIRECT control over and everything else just let it go. Because the reality is that life is too damn short for drama, and if it isn't mine or if I can't change it then I don't want any part of it!

Make Time For "Mommy" Time
I can't emphasis enough how important it is for Mommies to make time for themselves.
When you first have a child you go through a period of time where you feel you have to be with your child 24/7; you have to be the one to wake up in the middle of the night, you have to be the one to always change their diaper, feed them, and run to them when they cry. We put SO MUCH pressure on ourselves. Then that phase fads out a little. But one thing we all go through is a lose of identity. We put all the things we enjoy on hold to be a full time Mommy. And I want to tell you all that it is OK to still give yourself a little "Mommy" time. Actually, I feel it is extremely important to give yourself a little “Mommy” time.
Pick up a hobby, activity or even once a month something you enjoy alone, to prevent going in sane. Why not gain a little of your identity back. Why not do the things you always loved. Just because we are Mommies doesn’t mean we have to give up 100% of who we are, what we want to be, what we enjoy.
By doing this you’ll be less stressed, enjoy the time you have with your child/children and feel good about yourself. SO please, whether you’re a new mom, or a mom of teenagers, please do something for yourself. Start with once a month, give yourself a chance to gain yourself back, feed your soul.
I promise you’ll love it once you do it!

Mommy on a Mission
It is time to say good bye to the 10lbs that has been by my side since I have had my daughter. It's been fun but now is the time to say good bye :) It refruses to let go but I am finally cutting my ties and have joined a gym.
Yep, that's right, I am going to attempt to get rid of the last 10 lbs that I am still carrying around with me. I figure I better do it now before I get pregnant again.
So today it begins, I apologize in advance to those I may snap at, am crabby to and to my husband for going to bed too early because I am hungry, but today is the day to get my hot bod back!

DORAAAAA
My Daughter is obsessed with Dora, and by obsessed I mean she will wake up and the first thing out of her mouth is DORAAAA, she even calls for Dora in her sleep. Some may find that to be disturbing but I think it is kind of cute.
Two weeks ago she called the nurse at her Doctor's office Dora, which she did kind of look like her. The nurse looked at me funny and said "She just called me Dora." I wanted to laugh but said "Take it as a compliment, she LOVES Dora!"
So if you walk into my house you'll notice she has the Dora couch, toy box, dolls, PJ's, sippy cups, bathing suit, tapes, guitar, blocks, calendar, luggage, blankets, beach towel, beach bag... oh my now I am a little disturbed ha,ha.
But hey, I guess her obession could be worse, it could be of those stupid Yo Gabba Gabba characters that make me cringe at the site of them. At least Dora and her monkey buddy Boots- like who doesn't have a monkey buddy named Boots, and her talking map and backpack are enteratining and she is learning a 2nd language, the other day she said Holla and Ariba! So everytime she calls out for Dora instead of MaMa I just have to laugh.

Christmas Tree Shop
I am IN LOVE with the Christmas Tree Shop. Not sure why but I am. I can spend hours in there and buy a number of things that I don't even really need! I went today with my sister's bridal party and they had EVERYTHING we needed. All in one spot, for a great price and we walked away happy and feeling that we accomplished alot is such a short period of time.
I usually hit the one off in Cape Cod when we go to our yearly summer spot, but the one in Orange and Danbury CT are just as good. Yes, the dollar stores and deal stores are great too but isn't there something about the Christmas Tree Shop- which doesn't just carry things for the holidays-that makes you want to keep going back!
So for all of you who have never been, please go, and for all your shopaholics you must go and get there $1 gardnering kits and $1.69 wrapping paper for about any occasion! Plus they had these 79 cent Dora sandwich bags- yes Dora on them- and they are just too cute for my daughter's snacks or even my husband's lunches (I wonder what his buddies would think.) Happy Shopping!

Venting Session
We all need a venting session and as I type that my W key froze, so maybe I should start this with; I need a venting session.
Growing up you always heard parents say you can hurt me and I will be fine but when you hurt my child that is where I draw the line. My daughter is too young to realize if someone is being mean to her or leaving her out. She may not enjoy being around someone if she picks up a weird vibe. But I am begining to feel very overprotective of her and her feelings.
She is an only child, currently, and really doesn't have anyone to play with. When an opportunity arises to have a playdate we love it since she is usually flying solo. But when she has the chance and is left out I can't help but feel a little sad for her.
The idea is for kids to play with one another to build memories, but most importantly to help build social skills, skills of sharing, respecting someone else's feelings and the skills of interacting with peers. I like to watch how she communicates with other children, is she intimated easily? Does she share? ect..
I am a stay at home mom and do work part time but my schedule is so flexible that I often take my child to the beach, park, Stew's-yes still my favorite place. I am sad when I hear someone she could be doing things with does not include her. She is too young to feel the same sadness but one day she will catch on to it and feel it to and I know there is nothing I can do about it but I still am bothered by it.
People say there are two types of people in the world 1- That invites people whether they really want to or not but do it because it is right 2-Doesn't care who they hurt along the way.
The reality is if you are not going to ask me to join in with you and have my child play with yours then it proves you do not enjoy our company which is fine! But to invite family or friends and exclude us is rude, wrong, hurtful and shameful. We are examples for our children and should be showing them the proper example of how to treat others. Remember we do not choose our family, we do choose our friends. We do not leave out someone knowing it will hurt them, because I rather not have that person in my life at all if they think that it is ok to do that. I am ok with shutting them out and being around them when I am obligated to.
One day my child will catch on to this, she will feel left out. I can only protect her as much as possible and it is my duty to teach her to not to do this to others!

Every day can be a Good day!
I am amazed everytime I look at my daughter, I am amazed that this beautiful, little character was once swimming in my belly, and now first thing she says when she wakes up is Dora. I have had bad days, stressful days, busy days when I forget to eat, pee or even forget to return calls. But then I stop, freeze what I am doing and look at this little girl that my husband and I created and it is like a fresh breathe of air and every thing, every thing is good and my day becomes good!
So when your day is bad and I know we all have those days, stop, breathe and enjoy the moment, because everyday can be a good day!

Have Clutter? Throw a Party...
Ever notice when you throw a party your actually get rid of more junk then on an average cleaning day? I do. So my new solution to clutter is throw a party to motivate me to get rid of those things I am hanging on to that don't serve a purpose. I always love how my house looks when I throw a party, even though some may say you have to clean when your guests leave.
I love this motivational theory, I get a clean house and a great party!

Stew Leonard's
Stew Leonard's is my new favorite place to bring my daughter. We go at least once a week. For those who have never heard of it, it is a grocery store, but not your typical grocery store. There are entertainment for kids, fresh milk and produce.
There is a cow on the wall that Moos when you hit the button, which my daughter is terrified of. The minute we get out of the car she tries to hide in the shopping cart until we pass it in the store. I know it sounds like I am torturing her by always bringing her there but once she is passes the cow she enjoys herself.
After 1:00 they always have samples, which is great because the 12:00 lunch crowd are gone and it isn't crowded. I usually buy something for my daughter to snack on throughout the store, today it was a plain bagel- which I realized she maybe had a bite and I ate the whole thing, last week it was ice cream- which today I realized it's easier to have the ice cream after we are done shopping, the other day it was chicken fries. See I wasn't lying when I said it was my new favorite place!
I always spend $20-$30 there, I normally buy her milk there and snacks for the house, apples are a must and whatever specials they have. Their baby ice cream cones, which we share because it is big enough is only $1.90 with sprinkles. A bagel is 59 cents each, and a half gallon of their fresh milk is $1.89, you can't beat those prices.
In the Spring they have a farm with a cow, sheep, goats, and chickens. It's a fun place to go to and their food is yummy! Best of all it is a nice little outing for me and my little one!

Grocery Shopping Solutions
I always wanted to be that mom in the grocery store you see who seemed to have their children in total control and well behaved. Now that my daughter is older she seems a little more fussier when we go out so below are some of my grocery shopping solutions that seem to work well for us.
• Give them a snack- the minute we get into the store I pick something off the shelf for her to snack on. Those lunchables are perfect- my daughter loves snacking on the cheese and crackers. Graham crackers are also great- they don't make a huge mess and she loves to play with the box while she eats. Popcorn chicken is great too- easy to eat and lasts. As she gets older this will prevent any desires she may have to want something in the store. And never let them choose, you choose to prevent arguments. Of course children will go after the candy and junk, pick something that is healthy, yet a treat and something they won't finish in one bite. The whole point is to have something they can snack on throughout the entire shopping trip.
• Give them their own list- my daughter loves to play with my list so since she is too young to know the difference I give her own sheet of paper so she can't rip, loose or chew on mine.
• Coupons- my daughter loves to play with my coupons so since she is too young to know the difference I give expired ones. When you have older children have them help by looking for the sale items or items listed on the coupons.
• Have them help - although my daughter is too young to really understand it I still try to get her involved. I tell her what I need to get in the aisle I am in and every time I put something in the cart I tell her what it is. When they can help have them pick the bag of chips off the shelf or grab the box of cereal.
Children love to be entertained and confining them makes them uneasy so take the time to entertain them so you are not running through the aisle in a hurry to get out of the store!

Watermelon for Toddlers
When I was pregnant I ate so much watermelon so it is not a huge surprise to me that my daughter can't get enough of it. One day I noticed her gnawing on it and realized that her swollen gums got some relief from the cold watermelon.
So for all you mommies out there with teething Toddlers give them some cold watermelon to soothe their pain. I do not recommend this for children who are just learning to chew. But for those with a half dozen teeth, it is the perfect snack and teething remedy! Enjoy!

Mirror of One's Self
I have been lucky in my life to be around good people, good loving people who have my back, enjoy my company, love me for who I am and bring out the best in me. Like you and everyone else I have also been around people who's action hurt, bring out the bad in others and look for someone to blame to avoid conflict with one self. The funny thing is those who hurt others really hurt deep down themselves. I know it is easy to say let it go, brush it off, turn the other way but people need to know that althought two wrongs don't make a right people will not forget when you hurt them and others see it.
I feel like at this point in my life I've seen so much and am amazed at how much human kind thrives on competeting with others, hurting others and trying to look better than someone else. Reality is we all have to face ourselves, our actions, and live with the person we are. Step back and see the person you have become and you be the judge of who you really are!

Definition of Trust
Definition of Trust as a verb:
To have or place confidence in; depend on.
To expect with assurance; assume: I trust that you will be on time.
To believe: I trust what you say.
To place in the care of another; entrust.
To grant discretion to confidently: Can I trust them with the boat?
To extend credit to.
As I get older I tend to keep people in even if I can't trust them. Sometimes it isn't by choice. As you can tell there are many definitions to the word trust. But once it is betrayed how easy is it to gain back.
My Mom always said never to trust anyone 100% and to remember anything you say out loud can and will one day be used against you so if you ever think someone is trustworthy of what you may say to them think again.
I will be 30 this year so I am too young to know what the future holds but I am old enough to know I do not like the feeling of being around someone I can't trust. They say "Keep your friends close and your enemies closer," but who has the energy for that. I guess we all have to set boundaries as to what we find to be acceptable and unacceptable. I guess I am in the process of setting up mine.
One lesson in life is that you can only get hurt if you allow someone to hurt you. So should you walk this earth alone to prevent getting hurt, or do you let someone in and expect the good times to heal the bad! No one knows! I'll leave this post with a quote that summaries what life is really like:
“We're never so vulnerable than when we trust someone - but paradoxically, if we cannot trust, neither can we find love or joy” Walter Anderson quotes.

Fell In Love
*It must be the way she wobbles down the hall that makes me love her, or the way she drinks her baba.* I love the way she says MaMa and laughs at all the silly faces I make.* I remember this little angel kicking away in my belly, 15 months later she melts my heart with every new word she says. *I can't imagine how much more love I could feel for her as she grows older.*I can't help but smile everytime I look at her.* I must say I had the greatest joy to fall in love twice in my life- the first time with my husband, the second with my little girl.

My new philosophy on life..."Nobody said it was easy!"
I picked up my the baby from my mom's got home, grabbed the mail, started dinner, made my daughter raviolis, she wouldn't eat them, I made her chicken soup she turned her face, I went to put the chicken in the oven and realized it was never turned out, I let the dogs out, cooked my side dishes, put wood in the stove, let the dogs in, and took out the cranberry sauce from the fridge watched as the container slipped out of my hands and onto the floor, yelled as the dogs came licking the ground and just when I was about to snap I started to sing in my head. "Nobody said it was easy!" And let me tell you it made me laugh!!!!
Life really isn't easy and why should it be. We want more, we do more, we add stress to our lives when it really isn't neccessary. I didn't have to cook three meals tonight, my daughter didn't need to have a selection, I don't have to work as much as I do, I realize that everyone has a full plate. We all run against the clock. I catch my self gasping for air and I do it to myself. I look back on all the stressful events I have gone through and the key word is "gone" through. I survived them, and I will survive the others. I just need to slow it down and when times get to hard and when I feel like I just may snap, I'll have to remember to sing those 5 simple words again: NOBODY SAID IT WAS EASY.....

To Spank or Not to Spank
I grew up in a household that felt spanking was ok, until I became the parent. My parents were young when they had children and seemed to grow up with us. Now that I have a daughter I've decided not to spank. I know friends/family who do and I am not here to judge but I do think we need to consider the following when disciplining our children.
Spanking is easier than taking the time to discipline- If my daughter does something wrong I normally tell her to stop, if she continues I count to three, and if that still doesn't work I put her in a time out. Which she fights it until I put her in her pack and play, close the door and walk away for a minute. I go back explain to her what she did wrong and make her say sorry. I then hug her, kiss her and tell her I love her. When you spank, you spank and end of story.
Giving a time out takes patience-Yes, she usually climbs off the chair, laughs, jumps up and down, until I sit infront of her and explain to her what she did was wrong and why.
So moral to all of this... Spanking is easier, less effective and doesn't connect to the what the real issue is. Don't take that short cut. Take the time to explain, reinforce and remind children what they did was wrong and why it was wrong. It takes more time but you'll feel better once you do it!

Meatballs and Cheerios
My daughter loves cheerios and anything with sauce on it! When in doubt give her cheerios and she will be one happy munchkin. Well today I was feeding her meatballs for lunch- which she loves I must say and I was pretending to eat them when I stuck a meatball in my mouth and to my great surprise felt a little crunch in it. YEP! There was a cheerrio stuck to it! YUCK! I should have known better than to eat off her plate! Buon Appetit!

Toddler Days
My baby girl went from this little baby to a toddler that loves to throw her toys, turn the TV on and off and on and off and on until I get upset, give the dogs her food and climb stairs. How funny is it that no matter how many toys she has she must play with the remote control, my cell phone and open every cabinet door in the house! I always find her in her crib with all her toys thrown on the floor, pants off and socks no where to be found. She pulls every bow, barrette and clip out of her hair and rolls around the bed when I try to change her. I can't help but laugh while I am writing this. She is a character and just two months ago she was learning how to walk!
But the best part about of having a new toddler is that I have a little buddy. We go to the store and share samples, we laugh at funny, silly things and she even gives me a kiss, well air kiss, every once in a while. I know we won't always be friends and I know as she gets older things may get tougher but I want to try to enjoy every minute of this! For now I'll enjoy doing things with my little side kick!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Wow another year has come and gone! The New Year always reminds me of all the good that really has happened in one year. My baby grew from being an itsy bitsy thing to a toddler who loves Dora and claps when she does something good. I got an amazing position working from home. My sister got engaged. My friendships grew. My family grew. And all the bad that has happened now makes sense to me and we can finally laugh about it. I guess its true when they say that "we will always have bad days but the good ones are just around the corner!" How blessed are we all! Yes 2009 was rough, yes the economy hurt, but we are all here to celebrate together and that alone is a huge blessing. So here's a big cheers to letting go of 2009 and welcoming 2010! HAPPY NEW YEARS AND BEST WISHES FOR A WONDERFUL 2010!!

Donate to a Local Child In Need
I saw an ad for our local Children's Bank in Connecticut called Children's Connection. They are located in Norwalk and you can call and get a name and age of a child who needs a gift for this Holiday season.
Most of the kids have a request and they are not more than a $30 wish. I called and some of the requests were for a doll, truck or books and art supplies. The gift you purchase will most likely be the ONLY gift they will receive this Christmas and holiday season.
I know we can't help them all but if you can just help one it will make a difference. Call today 203-849-1111 or call your local Human Services Council's Children's Connection.

Spread a Little Love
I realize we all know someone in a tight situation and with the ecomony a roller coaster I think we all need to take a step back and spread a little love!
We get caught up in what we want, not what we need and do things and say things without realizing who will be affected or hurt by our actions. We tend to live in the present instead of plan a little for tomorrow and step on one another to get where we want to be.
Deep down I believe that it is our good nature to do something kind for someone, without anything in return and give a little and expect a little less and remember that we all have feelings . We have to accept the fact that we will have a little more than some people and a little less than others but being a good person doesn't take much effort and the award is very fullfuling.
So with that all said do something today or tomorrow or even during the holiday season to give or help or donate and most of all spread the love, because it's free, takes a little effort and we all know someone who could use a little extra of it!
Baby's 1st Steps
Baby girl took her first steps all alone. She walked 3 steps and it took my breath away. She was wiggling and wobbling but did it. It was great because her daddy and I both got to witness it and we were sooo proud of her!

Kitchen Cleaning Tip
When you are wiping down your counter top located above your dishwasher I noticed if I open up my dishwasher all the access crumbs land in there and not the floor. Therefore, saving me the extra step of having to sweep up after I clean!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN
Baby girl's 1st Halloween was a lot of fun. She was the cutest Pebbles and I must say the costume we made came out sooooo cute!!! My Mom, Sister and I put some work into it. I spent about $10 on the WHOLE thing, under shirt and all!! Not bad right! She loved it and she even kept the bone in her hair all night!!

Natural Baby Juice
I was making my daughter applesauce when I looked down at the leftover water in the pot and thought what a waste it would be if I threw this out. So I strained out the leftover pieces of apples and put the juice in the fridge. My daughter loves this natural apple juice.

Quick Breakfast Recipes to Enjoy All Week
Hate making breakfast every morning? Why not cook in advance using these two yummy recipes that you’ll get to enjoy all week!
• Egg Burrito- Nothing is easier than this recipe. Scramble up eggs, put in a wrap, fill with cheese, cooked onions, peppers, turkey sausage or turkey bacon, fold wrap, spray with cooking spray, then top with shredded cheese. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. The trick it to let them cool completely then store in a container or aluminum foil. When ready to eat pop into microwave for 1 minute or back into the toaster. YUM! My daughter loves to share this with me in the morning and my husband loves them with salsa.
• Egg Frittata- This is a yummy treat you can snack on not only in the morning but throughout the day. Scramble 7 eggs, I like to do 3 yoke, 4 whites. Add two table spoon of ricotta cheese- ok to leave out if you don't have it. Add 1/4 cup of milk salt and pepper to taste and some shredded cheese. I like cheddar. Now you can have fun with this and add turkey bacon, sausage, onions or ham. Make sure the bacon and sausage are cooked first. Pour into sprayed round Pyrex and bake at 350 degrees for 30-45 minutes. Store in refrigerator once cooled and when ready to eat pop a slice in the microwave for 45 sec to 1 minute. You can even add a slice of cheese on top before you place in microwave.
Now all of these recipes can be low carb and low fat - The frittata is already because it is just eggs, so you can use skim milk and low fat ricotta cheese. The burritos are so good with low carb wraps and reduced fat cheese. ENJOY!

Baking Tip
Use the Cookie Cutter AFTER the cookie is baked,
not before.
not before.
When making shaped cookies I noticed that if you roll the dough in a ball, then flatten the cookie with the bottom of a floured cup then bake you can use the cookie cutters AFTER you bake it. Much easier and the edges do not burn. So after they come out of the oven choose whichever shape you like, and place the cutter in the center of the cookie.
Shapes come out PERFECTLY! Enjoy

Mammogram Suggestion Card
October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and it so happen to be when I was due for my yearly mammo. For all of you who don't know I am under the age of 30 and have been getting mammos for a while now due to several reasons. Normally it doesn't bother me but every time I go for one someone reminds me how young I am to be doing this before my time and I walk away a little sad.
I go to my appointment and was very grateful for the night appointment. I walk in, put on my robe, and see the suggestion box in the waiting area. Being the good person I am I write a positive comment and put my card into the box. Seconds later I wished I could get my card back and rip it up!
The tech calls my name and apologizes for my wait. She goes on for a good ten minutes how I am so young so she didn't know why I would be here- again I did have a script from my surgeon and have been getting these done for years, by the time I am 40 I will have my own room of films- she continues how strange it is that I am not even 30 and having a mammogram so she had to read my chart over to understand. I explain over and over again my history, my reason for being there, but she insists on going on about how strange it is and looking at me as if I had two heads and four breasts. By the time I was done I was so pissed I didn't even say thank you and walked out!
Listen up… people ALL ages can get breast cancer, male and female. NO ONE should assume other wise; no one should make anyone feel uncomfortable for being there. Why would someone who is suppose to be a professional make me feel so uncomfortable about being their when I am already well aware of how uncommon it is for someone this young to get a mammogram!
Let this be a lesson to all of us! Fill out the suggestion card AFTER the experience happens, NOT before! And for everyone out there who works in a field as sensitive as this and needs a refresher course on how to deal with people there are sensitivity courses you can take if you need to learn how to interact with people in your profession! And for all you ladies out there go and get a mammogram don't let a stupid, uneducated tech get in your way. Remember it is your life and only you have control over it.

Planning Baby's First Birthday
This past week has been a roller coaster ride for me. Since I first found out I was having a winter baby it's been a debate where and what to do for the baby's 1st birthday. So now that the 1st birthday is approaching my mind is on over drive. Do we invite the whole family, which is 60+ or do we just do immediate... Do we rent a heated tent for the back yard, have two family parties or rent a hall... Should we cook, cook and have it catered or go to a restaurant.
Yep I know what you are thinking, too much to debate over a 1st birthday. I have had so many unwanted feedback, remarks, helpful and annoying suggestions that I could scream. I had the... why aren't you going to invite them issue, I had the... you should do crafts and goodie bags for the kids there, which is only 2 children, issue. I had the...will people like that food at that restaurant... And how about will we all be able to fit there issue. And the reality is yes we all go through this when we plan a party. But why does my baby's first birthday have to be such a big issue.
What ever happened to balloons, cake, casual birthday parties, birthday cards, pin the tail on the donkey days??? My baby is going to be 1, she isn't going to remember her first party, and she could care less what favors I buy, what is served or how much I spend. Of course we want to throw a nice party and treat our guests to good food and company. But how many of us really end up enjoying the day?
So this is what we booked and I must say I am very pleased. I don't have to cook, I don’t have to do crafts or worry about who I didn't invite because I booked my daughter's party at a restaurant that is within our budget and couldn't hold more than 50 people. So my list had to get cut. I had to invite the people I see on a daily basis. I would LOVE to have everyone there but throwing a party that costs more than a couple thousand dollars is a little over board. Granted baptisms, graduations, and communions are exceptions but 1st birthdays are meant to be small, and intimate.
I am happy to say all in one day we booked the restaurant, ordered the favors, and designed the invites. I WILL enjoy my baby's 1st birthday and finally get to sleep tonight without waking up to the thought of reviewing my party options, guest lists or food menus.

Save Money This Holiday Season
I know you all think I am crazy for thinking Christmas already but believe it or not getting a head start will help save you some money!!!
I always make a Christmas spreadsheet. All you have to do is make a list of everyone you have to buy for. Enter a column with how much you want to spend and a column of what you actually spent. Now when you go shopping keep an eye open for deals. BUT THERE IS ONE CATCH!!! If you buy on sale DO NOT think you have to buy someone MORE. The goal is to keep the difference. Here's an example.Name
Name Buy Bought Spend Actually Spent
Name Buy Bought Spend Actually Spent
Mom Camera Camera $250 $150
So you ended up spending $100 less than you wanted to. That $100 is yours, not to be used to buy mom something else worth $100.
Try it and tally up your SPEND column to compare to your ACTUALLY SPENT column. You'll be amazied at how much you save if you plan ahead. You may also actually enjoy the holidays more and feel less like a scrooge

Hooray for Teeth
Baby girls teeth came in, well her two bottom teeth. She had some painful days my poor lil munchkin but is doing much better today. Thank goodness for Motrin, Tylenol, teething rings, orajel, frozen apples and my fingers. I can't say which method worked the best because I used ALL of them. No need to worry, I didn't give them to her all at once.
She isn't a fussy baby so when she is I seem to do whatever it takes to make her happy! Typical woman right! Now all I have to do is teach her to kiss with her mouth closed-ouch- and we'll be all set ;)

FAT ASS FUDGE YUM!
I was in the Hampton's over the weekend and stopped by a booth that was selling fudge at a Farmers Market. Normally it would be the smell of chocolate that would draw
me in but not this time.
I saw a huge sign that said " FAT ASS FUDGE " and I was sold.
Any company with a name like that has to be good and let me tell you it was!
I tried the toffee covered with chocolate, the delicious brownies AND the mouth watering fudge. I know I know I will turn into a fat ass too but I had to give it all a try.
Of course we also bought some to go- shh don't tell anyone.
So if you or a friend are chocolate lovers like me then check out this wonderful site that is run by a sweet woman named Donna McCue.

Thank You Mom
I am lying on my couch watching the Daytime Emmy Awards and love how everyone thanks their Mother's when they receive an award. It never really hit me until now how much we, as Mother's, influence our children and how our children recognize us when they become successful. Showing us their appreciation, is truly a beautiful thing.

Who's the real victim here?
I want to begin this blog by apologizing if I offend anyone after reading what I am about to write. I come from a family who taught me that in life you get what you work for. My parents were foreigners that made themselves who they are today by working hard, not complaining and having others do for them. So again, if you are offended I am sorry but my voice needs to be heard.
After becoming a mom it became clear to me the importance of providing for your family. It isn't about the number of shoes you have or the nicest clothes you wear it was about taking charge and providing for what mattered, your family!
Lately I have seen many things I have not or choose not to see before. I see married couples living off their parents and having children year after year while playing the victim because they can't take the best vacation or have the newest cars. I've seen educated people have family worry about how they are going to raise their unborn children. I have even seen my family and friends give to us over and over again and our daughter having more than she could image. And then I began to see the young mom's who have a child without insurance and make the best of their situation and I ask myself this ,and I am truly trying to be as genuine as possible, who is the real victim?
Why would someone want people to pity them when they don't want to help themselves?? Why are we the ones worrying about them when they aren't making an effort to worry about themselves. They cry poor me, they have their children ask others to buy them things but yet they are the ones home every weekend and by 5 every night? And we the fools tend to help them FIRST over the REAL victims. The real victims are young girls who made mistakes and got pregnant without even having the proper education to get a decent job.
I am frustrated because for years I fed into the "non victims" playing victims so they wouldn't have to do for themselves. I've seen us run to them the minute someone gives us something they could use. Reality is the people who need these things are making the best of their situation so their voices are not being heard.
I think more importantly I am mad at myself for not helping the people who really need the help! I came across a high chair and thought I would hold on to it in case a family member needed it and I know my family members are not the ones that need these things.
I was pissed at myself for not thinking about the real reason you help people. You help people that need help because it makes you feel good. My family and friends are capable of buying these things so now I am going to give it to some one who could REALLY use this. Someone who borrowed a friends with pride, some one who would appreciate it, not expect or demand it.
The whole point is we are raising the children of the future. We are their teachers. The young mom and dads are raising their children to work hard and be depend on themselves, while the educated, financially stable are teaching them to rely on others. People wake up!
It is time to take responsibilities for ourselves and our actions and most importantly our children. Yes, accidents happen, yes we have unplanned pregnancy, but for those who know already what it's like to have children if you can not handle more then stop having more. Stop depending on others because the reality of this whole message is one day your children will need YOU and if YOU can't even help yourself then how can you help them!

Oh Baby Baby
When my daughter was 4 months old I turned to my husband and said "I WANT ANOTHER BABY." His grin grew ear to ear with excitement. But as my baby got a little older I found myself wanted to give HER my undivided attention. I became excited when she did something new or as her reactions and expressions changed. So she is now 9 months old and the thought is popping back into my head.
I am under the age of 30 so I have plenty of time and for all who don't know it took me over 2 years to get pregnant with my first. I thought of going back to the doctor but the thought of retesting again makes me want to cringe! It isn't a fun process and we haven't began to try hard enough to even know if we would need to see the doctor anyway.
My husband wants 3 or 4 babies. I go back and forth. I would love a sister for my daughter but would also love a little boy. So it seems like 3 may be the goal. However, every time I watch Brother& Sisters the number of children I want grows!
I was lucky enough for my parents to provide a wonderful life for me, they paid for college and my wedding and I want to do the same for my children.
Today I baby sat my nephews and watched the 3 children play and thought this is a glimpse into my future. And it was actually really nice. They played, I was relaxed and thought yeah I COULD handle this.
The thing is I believe in signs and lately people have been giving us extra baby stuff, ex: someone gave us an extra high chair and we even got two double strollers. I asked my husband "Does this mean Twins are in our future?!" He smiled with delight, as I got short of breath.
I guess now you are all wondering are we trying and my answer is "we aren't preventing it." I want to see what ever happens happens. I believe God gives you what you can handle and when you can handle it! But when it does happen I will be very happy to share the news and know my little girl will be the best big sister out there!
