Spring Ahead!!!
Happy Daylight Savings everyone. I LOVE this time of year. Spring is around the corner, the weather is warmer, I get to see my flowers start to bloom and then their is Easter-which is by far one of my favorite holidays.
I love how everyone is a little happier, I get to pull my lovely collection of flip flops out and bury my uncomfortable boring boots back in storage. I love how you can go out without a jacket, and take walks and have picnics...oh I love picnics down at the beach. And most importantly it stays lighter out longer so when I am making dinner at 6:00 it doesn't seem like it is 9:00 outside.
As you can tell I am starting off my day in a very cheerful way! Cheers to warm weather and Spring ahead!

Your Future: If you could would you want to know?
It's funny how we live our lives preparing for our future. But my real question to all of you is if you could would you want to know what your future would be like? Would you want to know how things ended up, who you would marry, how many kids you would have, where you would live or what your career would be?
I always say for fun "Why not?" but deep down I think the whole thing freaks me out a little. I am all about psychics, palm reading, tarot cards, ect...But I must admit it's fun but doesn't mean it is my reality.
I went to a psychic about 10 years ago with a girlfriend and of course she said things...some that were true some that were not true and some I do not know yet if they will come true. It was fun, mysterious, gave me something to think about. But I must say and admit that if we all knew how things would end up, if we all knew how our lives would truly be we would probably fight the things we did not want to happen and not be surprised by the things that did happen!

"Feed" the Soul...Literally
I am an emotional eater, I always have been. I eat when I am happy, sad, nervous, mad, tired, down. The only time I do not eat a lot is when I am sick. I always blamed eating on the "Italian" in me but the reality is it is how I comfort myself. I use food as a comfort to my emotions.
The flip side to this is when I notice my pants getting a little snug I get upset about it and try to control what I eat. I worked in the medical field for 5 years and worked for surgeons who performed the weight loss procedure. It was amazing how many of us eat to fulfill an emotion we can not handle on our own. Luckily I realize when I am eating too much and take a step back. But for those who can't it gets tough and need some guidance.
We all have our own addictions and use different measures in helping us deal with our emotions but we also need to know when to take a step back and not abuse ourselves and make sure we stay healthy. The reality is when we do this to ourselves we are covering up a bigger issue, that sadly will not disappear or go away unless we resolve it. Some people need a friend to talk to or a buddy to join the gym with. Some people seek counseling and find it easier to vent to a stranger.
I know I need to go to the gym more and watch my portion control. I also know working from home does not help prevent myself from 'overeating' but Spring is around the corner and soon all the great fruits and veggies will be in available and bathing suit season will be here. Sounds depressing right!? But the reality is recognize why you do what you do and try to resolve it before it gets out of control. Also there is nothing wrong with "feeding" your soul...just as long as in the long run it won't end up harming it.

Proactiv® Acne Solution-I highly recommend it!
Luckily as a child and teenager I never had to deal with the battle of acne. It wasn't until after I had my daughter that I developed acne. I immediately went to a dermatologist and ever since then I use the Proactiv® Acne Solution every morning and every night.
My family, friends and I all highly recommend this product. It is so easy to use and my skin has never looked better. I know you all have seen a ton of commercials on this but I promise you it is legit and REALLY works!!!
I love their face mask and use it weekly, and my husband even does the mask with me too. Their repairing lotion is great to use at night or during the day. So if you have acne issue or looking for a way to improve your skin then definitely give this product a try!

Stop, Breathe & Enjoy the World Around You!
My husband usually puts my daughter to bed but tonight I decided to and I must say it was so fun and sad at the same time. She is now in a "big girl" bed and I LOVE it, so does she. Her room is yellow and all the bright colors and butterflies and toddler decorations make her room so cozy!
We were lying in her bed joking around and laughing. I could not believe how much she has grown. I was singing songs with her and cuddling, it was so much fun. And then of course through the laughter came the tears. No not from my daughter but from me. I could not believe this little girl is mine. I could not believe that 26 months ago she was in my belly and now singing songs with me.
I cherish those moments when nothing else matters, when it is her and I laughing and enjoying one another. She is amazing and those last 26 months flashed before my eyes. Here my baby girl, now a toddler, was in a big girl bed, talking away and giggling at the silly things we were saying. It is these moments in life that we need to stop and focus on. Forget work, forget your bills, forget the drama of the world and sit back every day for at least 30 minutes and take it all in. Stop breathe and enjoy the world around you!

Donate and Make a Difference
It is funny how contagious generosity can be. I am a true believer of Karma and lately the smallest gestures make a huge difference. Whether it is a smile to a stranger or holding the door open for the elder, doing something good makes you feel good and whether you see it or not you in turn will receive something good!
Every year at this time I noticed that the request for donations come in. Not sure why or if there is a reason but they always seem to. I get my pile of donation requests filled with return labels, and notepads with my name on them and the ones with nickels and start to donate.
I know some people are not financially able to donate and that is fine, but for the majority of us please find a cause you believe in and give back. The feeling is rewarding in it's own way! I do not donate expecting something good in return, that defeats the whole purpose, but I give back because the cause I donate to has a special meaning to me or a loved one or just because I believe in the cause. So if you can make a difference and even it is just $5.00 every penny counts.
If you do not want to donate through the mail then get involved in a local community walk to raise money for a cause you believe in. There are a ton of local walks that I like to try to participate in and I make it fun by getting a group together to walk and in return we are giving back to our community.
Below are some of my favorite organizations to donate to.

Outgrowing Nap Time=More Vino for Mommy
These last two weeks my daughter has given me so much trouble while trying to put her down for a nap. It is exhausting. She is 26 months and I work while she sleeps so if she does not nap, I do not work and that means late night hours for me to try to play catch up.
The problem is she sits in her crib, and sings on top of her lungs. It would not be so bad if she read or played with her toys...nope she shouts and sings songs and calls for me until I give up and get her. Then she gets clumsy-like me-when she is over tired. I just do not get why she fights it...I promise I will not put up a fight if someone told me to take a nap!
I have a whole new perception on stay at home mom's since I typically am one-100% respect. I am exhausted by dinner and if I do not squeeze in a 20 minute nap I will not make it past 8:05 pm! I don't know how you mother's of multiples do it!
So I may have to stock the wine fridge to help me get through this little stage of life...hey why not don't they say a glass or maybe two are good to have a day!

An Italian grandmother is giving directions to her grown grandson who is coming to visit with his wife.

Cry Today Laugh Tomorrow Quote

Article about Your Purpose In Life
I never realized how repetitive life was until I had a child. I woke up, made us breakfast, we played, then she had snack, play some more, made her lunch then nap time. Got her up, played, made dinner, put her down for bed and then went to bed to do it all over again. Yes, now that I am working from home in between I am working, dealing with clients, checking emails ect...But there comes a point in life when you think to yourself 'is this really it?!" You start adding different activities into the mix and make plans with friends and family so you have something to look forward to. But the reality is sometimes we need a refresher as to what really is our purpose in life.
This is a great article I came across that I thought you may enjoy. I have not read the book but I did enjoy this article.

More Snow Facts
I woke up this morning, rolled over and called my husband and asked "so did it snow last night?" his reply "are you serious?" I guess I should have looked outside before calling him since we got a foot of snow. He was already up since 3 am plowing with a buddy. I got up opened the back door and attempted to let the dogs out.
Yep, we were snowed it yet again. I did my part and shoveled my way out...well after 10 minutes I decided it was enough of an attempt and headed back inside.
Below are some more fun Snow Facts:
* For the average person who weighs 150lbs you burn 408 calories an hour when you shovel
** The average snowflake falls at a speed of 3.1 miles per hour
*** Snow acts like a layer of insulation to the ground and can keep plants insulated from the detrimental sub-zero freezing temperatures.
**** According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the largest snowflake on record measured 38cm wide and 20cm thick. It was observed in Montana, USA in 1887 and described by witnesses as "larger than a milk pan".
For all of you in the East Coast make some hot chocolate and stay in!

Me and My lil one
Snowed in Craft Time
We have had a lot of snow, and yet again today it is snowing so we are snowed in. Since we can not go to Stew's or Stepping Stones I had to do something to distract my hyper little girl so out came out the craft bag of goodies.
We painted...until she wanted to paint her face. We played with play-doh until she insisted she wanted to wear it so I had to make bracelets and rings out of it. Then was the puzzle that ended up all over my floor. With all that said it was a great morning. Once the snow stops we'll go play outside with the doggies, then it'll be time for a nap for baby and me!

Multitasking- Don't Do It
I multitask all the time. I brush my teeth while I am showering. I empty the dishwasher while I talk on the phone, I even check my email while I am eating. We all do it and I notice as a mother I do it even more but as we all know when we multitask we aren't focusing 100% on the task we are working on. Sometimes we make huge errors that cost us more time to fix it then to actually focus on doing it right the first time.
So I did a little research as to why we should not be doing it:
And of course as I am writing this blog post I am speaking to my husband while checking my blackberry that keeps going off. I need to shut everything out and focus on one thing at a time. Reality is that 9 out of 10 times the things that are distracting us are the least important things we should not be focusing on.

So I did a little research as to why we should not be doing it:
*The Institute of Psychiatry at the University of London conducted a study to investigate what damages a person’s IQ more: multitasking, smoking marijuana, or losing a night of sleep. The results show multitasking temporarily lowers a person’s IQ by 10 points, according to http://chicagotribune.com/

Beware-Potty Training in Session!
I must admit I am so not looking forward to this potty training thing at all. I mean I am constantly out with my daughter so it is hard to put a pull up on her, set the clock every 30 minutes and rush her to the potty. But with that said she is getting older so the pressure is up to ME to get her in the potty training mode.
I started two months ago with bringing out her potty. At first she hated it, she cried, did not even want to look at it. The first time I sat her down on it she got up, said "no potty" and stood in her own puddle...I just mopped the floor that morning.
Now she loves it, only problem she plays on it. She will sit, sing, count the tile on the ground but nothing happens. She even likes her privacy and has said "ok, be right back" and slammed the door in my face. So now the challenge is getting her to actually do something, getting me to set the timer and to get rid of these diapers for good!
I have done my reading on tips and believe what may work for one child may not work for another, ex: bribing kids with candy or chocolate-great idea but my daughter is like me and the minute she has a little sugar she gets super hyper. She already tries to run around the house without a diaper on forget about when she has a little sugar in her!
Below are some articles I read and am attempting some of their tips. In the meantime I put up a big sign on my front door to warn all visitors "Beware-Potty Training in Session!"

How many times have we all seen this poster and never realize the story behind it? I have seen this image for years over and over again. Rosie the Riveter was an icon for the feminist movement. Funny how the designers pumped up her arms to look more masculine. She recently passed away at the age of 86. Read article here...

Greek Yogurt
I love yogurt, I always have. My daughter also loves it which is great since she refuses to drink milk. I am a huge fan of Chobani yogurt. I usually buy there vanilla yogurt and add a tablespoon of honey to it. I love the mixture of the plain yogurt with the honey. My second favorite is their peach yogurt. It has chunks of real peaches in it. Usually you can buy them 4 for $5.00 at the grocery store. Sign up here to receive a coupon and try one today!

Snow Facts
It's snowing again, third time this season, so I thought it may be fun to look up some fun Snow Facts.
- For it to snow the tops of the clouds must be below 0 degrees Celsius, or 32 degrees Fahrenheit. *
- Snow is actually clear/transparent. Snow appears white because the crystals act as prisms, breaking up the light of the sun into the entire spectrum of color.**
- There are five different shapes of snow crystals. A long needle shape, hollow column that is shaped like a six-sided prism, thin and flat six-sided plates, six-pointed stars and intricate dendrites.**
- The biggest snow storm in the United States occurred in 1967 in mid-western parts of the country. In Chicago, the storm accumulated 23 inches of snow in just 24 hours!***
We're expecting another 8-15"in the next 24 hrs. Stay warm and if you really have to go out then please drive safe!!

Power of Prayer
I know I've said it before but I can't emphasis enough about how strong the power of prayer is. We all have different beliefs and that is what makes this world such a wonderful place, but it is crazy how strong the power of prayer really is!
Someone really close to me is in the hospital. As I waited by the phone all day for updates I noticed I was driving myself crazy.
I decided I needed to leave the house for a distraction. I got my shoes on and packed my diaper bag. Before I left I made another call to the hospital, received an update that the patient was not doing better and we were not sure what the next step would be.
I put my daughter's shoes on her, sat on the couch next to her and began to pray. She was really cute as she tried to be serious as I prayed with her. I felt a little better got in my car and pulled out of my driveway. Two minutes later I received a call. The doctor's said the patient was on their way to recovery. Yes, I know you think I am crazy and yes it is a coincidence but when I went to the hospital tonight and told everyone the story it was as if we all knew it was some little miracle.
Pray...I do not care to who or what you pray to but pray and believe in the power of prayer! Trust me even if your prayers do not get answered you will feel much better!

Guess Who Got Into My Bathroom...
My daughter loves to play in my bathroom upstairs, it has high ceilings so she loves how her voice echos in there. So the other day I am putting my clothes away and notice she is a little too quiet in there. I walk in and find her playing with the toilet paper. The best thing is I was so mad that I brought her downstairs and later that evening when I went to the bathroom I forgot I left it like this and was cracking up!

Stepping Stones Museum for Children
My husband bought my daughter and I a family membership for Christmas and I must say I love this place! Stepping Stones Museum is filled with interactive activities for children of all ages. I brought my daughter there over the weekend and we spent 2 hours having a blast.
There are a ton of Exhibits for children of all ages, they even had a Science Lab and an Art Studio. The Energy Lab is so cool, it's my favorite, it is a room filled with balls and water and kids play with the balls and water shoots up. My daughter has a blast in this room.
If you're ever in the area check it out, it is well worth it! http://www.steppingstonesmuseum.org/

Dry Skin Remedies
The winter is horrible for my skin and I hate chapped lips so these are "must" do winter remedies to fight chapped lips and dry skin.
- Always drink lots of water
- Apply lotion to your body as soon as you get out of the shower
- Before bed apply hand cream-not lotion- but cream, some people even put rubber gloves on after they apply the cream so they wake up to extra soft hands
- Before bed apply chap stick, I love the Cherry Carmex or Blistex Lip Massage
- Also use chapstick over your lipstick when you leave the house
- Also make sure you have enough face lotion on so you do not get wind burn when you go out

Live Now Quote
"With the past, I have nothing to do; nor with the future. I live now." Ralph Waldo Emerson
New Year's Resolution
We all start the year off by creating a Resolution for the New Year in hopes of bettering our life and making a new start. So for this year I decided, even though it may sound selfish, to focus on the things in life that make me happy. I know it sounds silly with all the responsibilities I have but the reality is if I am happy then everyone around me will be happier!
I always lived my life a head of the game, I got married young, always worked and saved, I had a daughter young, I always focused on what was next. Well now I am focusing on the present, on a day to day basis. No more planning too ahead of time, no more focusing so ahead that I loose focus of today, the present!
I need to start living my life day by day, look forward to what the day will be not tomorrow. We need to live in the moment not in the future, because we do not know what the future will bring and I need to stop worrying about that!

Blue Teeth
I love when we have to get ready for parties and my daughter and husband are all ready and I am still running around trying to look presentable. So one day I am running up and down the stairs trying on different outfits, I assume my husband is in the living with my daughter when all of sudden he comes to me and asks "What did you give her that made her mouth all blue?!"
For a quick second I looked at him like he had two heads and ran to find my daughter. Yep, she got a hold of her blue crayon and decided to gnaw on it. So I did what every mom would do, and no I did not call the poison control, I got a wash cloth and her tooth brush and spent the next 20 minutes getting her teeth white again while shaking my head and holding back laughter at my blue faced little monster.

Snowed In!
I love being snowed it. It is so cozy and even though I work from home and do not have to drive to get to work I still take some time out to take advantage of these quiet days. The wind was really strong but once it died down I took advantage of this snow day and went out side with my daughter, even the dogs ran around with us.

Let it Snow!!!
Happy Day after Christmas Everyone. I hope you all had a wonderful holiday and Santa was good to you all!
We have a HUGE blizzard in my area and I must say I am loving it! I love how the snow always brings out the kid in everyone. It is super windy so I'll wait until tomorrow to bring my daughter out tubing and sledding. Maybe if we are lucky we'll be able to build a snow man. Even my dogs love the snow. They run around and bury their nose in the snow. It is hysterical.
My husband loves to plow so he is usually out and about with his buddies plowing our families drive ways and having fun. Before I had my daughter I would go with him too. It would be fun to help unbury cars or help cars that got stuck in the snow. For those in our area please do not go out unless you really have to and be safe out there!
I am just cozy by the fire and watching the snow fall outside. It's always nice to be snowed it, especially after two days of eating and partying! Be safe everyone and enjoy the rest of your Sunday!

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVE!!!
Christmas Eve is HUGE in my family. It always has been. We always go to my parent's house for an all time eat feast and stay until mid night opening gifts with about 30 family members. I love Christmas Eve because it is my Christmas with my family and then of course now that I have my own little family I have Christmas Morning and Day to look forward to with my in-laws.
Christmas Eve always starts off with way too many appetizers, so much that normally when the main course comes out we are already sneaking into the dessert. My mom always has the seven different fishes and has added meat to the menu since we have people in the family who are now either allergic or do not eat fish. The main course usually consists of king crab with pasta or lobster tails and sauce, a non fish pasta, goat and salad. Yep... then there's dessert. Which we always have way too many but of course we all sample everything. Between all the food and spiked egg nog opening gifts is a sight!
We always made my mom the elf and in charge of handing out gifts. By then she had one too many glasses of wine and without her glasses she can not see so she is constantly reading off the wrong names to everyone. It is hysterical! My pop doesn't have the patience so he is normally no where to be found to give him his gifts and is walking in and out of the living room. I bet he never really knows who bought him what since he always opens his gifts half way and says "Did you get me the right size?!" but he always acts like he LOVES everything you got him, even if it ends up in his closet with the tags still on.
I try to get the love seat by the fire so I can make my pile near the couch and be cozy. We usually take a break for a drink, for those who smoke and to munch on more dessert. An hour into opening gifts the crowd usually dies down and the laughing turns into yawning.
I always pause and look around at everyone when we are all in one room opening gifts and take that moment in for as long as possible and am grateful to share another year with everyone. Family traditions are so important and as the years have come and gone we have gained and lost people but best of all we've been there for one another.
I am looking forward to tonight, like every Christmas Eve and hope you all have a wonderful night too and cherish those memories with loved ones, regardless of the fights and loud relatives, cherish one another because as we get older things change and those rare moments when we all can be together may change!!

Wine, Chocolate and Girlfriends Quote
"There's nothing better than a bottle of wine, chocolate and a night in with girlfriends!"
THANKS CD XO
Sammy Meow...
I have two fury friends, a Rat Terrier dog named Spice and a long haired Chihuahua named Sammy. Now Spice, being a girl, always looked like a boy so when my daughter says "Spice...good boy" I could understand where the confusion may take place but when she looks at my 8 lb Chihuahua and says "Sammy Meow" I can not hold back the laughter!
No matter how much I try to tell her that Spice is a girl and Sammy is a dog not a cat, she insists on saying what she wants to say!

Tough life these dogs have!
Yep...Just another day in the life of being a mom!

Prevent Stress This Holiday Season
There is always so much pressure and stress around the holidays. We always think we have all this time to buy gifts, make cookies, wrap everything, work, keep the house and kids in order but the reality is that no matter how prepared we are the pressure can add stress to something that should be enjoyable.
With the holidays just two days away I thought it would be good to share some useful tips I found to help me get through the pressures of the season.
With the holidays just two days away I thought it would be good to share some useful tips I found to help me get through the pressures of the season.
- *Stick to a budget. Before you go gift and food shopping, decide how much money you can afford to spend. We all set a budget and then at the last minute spend so much money on last minute items!
- *Plan ahead. Set aside specific days for shopping, baking, visiting friends and other activities. Plan your menus and then make your shopping list. Plan Plan Plan and stick to the plan! It is ok to not go to every party and gathering. It is ok to pick up dessert instead of making it. You can not do everything all in one day so plan ahead!
- *Take a breather. Make some time for yourself. Spending just 15 minutes alone, without distractions, may refresh you enough to handle everything you need to do. We all need a time out. Even if it means just going for a ride or getting a coffee alone. Take the phone off the hook and relax!
Blocks...blocks
My daughter loves to play with blocks. She usually drags the bag they are in around the house until I open them for her. Once they are opened she dumps them ALL out and asks me to build her a tower- which she will eventually knock down.
So one morning I am trying to get ready and she starts with the "blocks...blocks" she comes into the bathroom and hands me the bag. I tell her I will open them only if she plays with them in the playroom so I can finish getting ready. She looks up with me and says "blocks...blocks."
Being the good mom that I am I open the blocks and go back into the bathroom to finish blow drying my hair. I then feel this little tug on my leg and look down. She hands me a block, so I put it on the sink and continue getting ready. Before you know it she is handing me one block after another. I eventually run out of room on the sink and have no choice but to build her a tower while I blow dry my hair. My masterpiece is below:

Easy Recipe: Sugar Cookies
I enjoy baking, although I prefer cooking, but every Christmas we make sugar cookies and cut them into shapes and decorate them...it would not feel like Christmas without sugar cookies. Below is an easy and yummy recipe.
Roll out dough, dip cookie cutters in flour and cut out shapes. Brush milk on cookies and add sprinkles. Bake for 12-15 mins at 350 degrees. Makes 2 dozen
Now I always end up covered in flour some how, and end up having to clean up sprinkles all over the floor, but they are fun to make and a great way to get into the holiday spirit!
- 3 tbsb. Butter soften
- 2/3 cup Sugar
- 1 Egg- room temperature
- 2 tsp. Vanilla
- 1 tbsp. Milk
- 2 cups of Flour
- 1/2 tsp. Baking Soda
- Sprinkles for decorating

Enjoy with a tall glass of milk!!
Baking vs Cooking
"Why is it that if I cook for 2 hrs I could feed an army, but if I bake for 2 hrs I only get two trays of cookies!"
