Breaking News: Osama Bin Laden Has Been Killed. I hope all the families out there that have been affected by the horrible acts this man has committed can now have a little peace and closure.
No one wishes death upon anyone but knowing he can no longer cause harm eases the minds and soothes the pain of thousands and even millions of people who have been affected by his actions. May we all be at peace and may his soul one day find peace!

Weekend Getaway
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. My husband and I had a wonderful getaway. We went to Newport, Rhode Island for the weekend, first time on vacation alone without the little one. It was great for us, although I must admit I missed my lil girl much more than I thought I would.
My husband and I shopped, ate, stopped by the Mansions, went to the cliff walk, ate some more, worked out at the gym, swam and even tried sleeping in a little. It was a great weekend and I must say we should have done this a long time ago.
Everyone gets so caught us in their many roles in life...mother, father, husband, wife, worker, boss, manager, brother, sister etc..that we get lost in why we chose one another to spend the rest of our lives together with. My husband is my best friend, he always has been, so it is easy to go away and have a blast.
I told him we need to do this at least once a year. It helps us reconnect and become better parents! So for all of you out there do the same. Go away alone once in a while, turn off your cell phones and just drive. Reconnect and relax!

Reading "Water For Elephants" By Sara Gruen
I love to read and before I had my daughter I read a lot. So now I promised myself to get back to it hoping it will inspire me to write some more and motivate me to get my novels that are complete published-only if there were more hours in a day I would be able to complete all my goals!
So I started reading "Water For Elephants" By Sara Gruen and love it! I know there is a movie coming out so it inspired me even more to start it.

GREAT BOOK "Many Lives, Many Masters" By Brian Weiss
I LOVE this book. I read it in 4 nights. It is based on a true story written by Brian Weiss, an experienced Psychiatrist. His patient comes to him and under hypnosis she can remember her past lives. I must say it was inspiring, motivating and really made me look at my life and life in general differently! I loved it so much that I bought my own copy and his other book "Same Soul, Many Bodies."

- Toss some chopped up ham in your salad
- Chop the left over ham and stuff it in your breaded chicken breast with cheese and roll it. Bake at 350 degrees

Happy Palm Sunday!
I love Palm Sunday. As a kid every Palm Sunday we went to church, stopped by my mom's aunt's house and had lunch at my Grandparents.
A lot of my friends do not celebrate this occasion, but every year I look forward to it. Since my grandparents have passed we all go to my aunt's and I still make sure we go to church. It is those memories of my childhood I want to carry on to my children. I miss my grandparents the most on this day and visit the cemetery every year with a Palm Cross for them.
It is funny how the little things we did as a child still carry on with us as we grow into adults and have a family of our own.
Happy Palm Sunday Everyone!!

Surround Yourself With Good People
I've been so blessed in my life to have so many wonderful, different groups of friends. My husband and I have met so many different people through the course of our relationship and built so many different bonds with wonderful people that we never really realize how lucky we are until we are around them and walk away feeling good about ourselves.
I am a true believer that if you surround yourself with good people; truly good, kind hearted people then good things will happen. Some people will suck the life out of you, hurt you, but when you build that relationship around the good ones life seems so much more enjoyable.
We all have something to learn from one another. We all should learn to cherish one another and those friendships that help bring the best out in us. For the ones who seem to bring us down, or are self centered try to keep your distance. Focus on the ones who bring the best out in you and you'll walk away feeling good about yourself and you'll notice good things will start to happen in your life!

Life is too Short to Be Unhappy
It's funny how many of my girlfriends and I are going through the same emotions in life. We are all at a point in our lives when we are scratching our heads and saying 'there's got to be more to life than this.' We blame our moods on the alignment of the stars or full moons, but the reality is we feel life is too short to be unhappy.
Now I have a wonderful life, I have a home, husband, child, job, friends, family...but yet I feel I am a juggling act. My girlfriends are over worked, working in an industry where they make good money but are paying the price emotionally and physically. We get together and wonder how we ended up like this.
The positive thing about our "venting sessions" is that we realize we are not alone, we realize the grass always seems greener on the other side and we realize that in reality we are exactly where we WANT to be. See we think if things would be different we would be happier, but reality is we chose to be where we are. We like the challenges in life, I need my life to be a juggling act, I get bored easily, and I need to keep moving. My girlfriends always wanted to move up the latter and don't want an everyday 9-5 job. They enjoy the challenge and their pay is supporting their life style.
We are constantly wrecking our brains on what we can do to be happy, but in reality we are happy, we are where we want to be. We mistake our goals for wanting more and think that because we want more we are unhappy...but it is not true. We are determined to get more, be more, do more, that's who we are. Life is too short to be unhappy...we need to live for today, for the moment and realize we do have issues, we will make mistakes but we will learn from them and move forward because that's who we are!

Bedtime Buddies
As a child I loved sleeping with my stuff animals, maybe a little too much. I would gather ALL the stuffed animals in the house and put them in bed with me. There were three children in my family so just try to image all the stuffed animals I stuffed in bed with me.
My mom would joke that she feared I would sweat myself to death and always yelled at me to not have them all in my bed, but I would insist. That is why I found it so funny that my daughter never had a favorite toy to sleep with. She never slept with a pacifier, favorite blanket or anything. I knew then she took after her father.
She is now over two years old in her big girl bed and the other night I was putting her to bed. She asked for her ducky, then her Barney doll and then for her beach ball- which is a pillow that looks like a beach ball. Finally, I thought, she was growing sentimental with her toys and wanted a bedtime buddy. Nope, before I knew it she put all three items under her feet as a foot rest and laid back. It was a pretty funny site I must admit!
I know she is still young and being attached to a item has it's pros and cons. Maybe one day she will find that favorite item she will find comfort in. If I could I would probably still sleep with a bedtime buddy- along with my husband of course :)

A Clean House & Children Don't Mix Quote
"Cleaning your house while your kids are still growing is like shoveling the walk before it stops snowing." Phyllis Diller
Ha-I Didn't Sign Up for This!
When I decided to become a parent I never realized how much work it would be. I mean I LOVE LOVE being a mom, but would LOVE LOVE if I could have a cleaning lady, cook, personal assistant and even a dog walker to take care of my dogs. I feel like I am always doing something but never really get anything done!
My husband is very hands on, he does alot around the house, helps me with my daughter and really anything I need. But I still can not seem to get everything I need and want done within the 17 hours I am awake. My days starts by 7:00 am and at 11:30 at night I am looking through my blackberry calendar adding tasks that I have yet to complete to do the next day!
I look around my house and sometimes wish I had the magic finger like that show 'I Dream of Jeannie' to wash the dishes, dust, vacuum, clean the bathroom, fold the laundry, take the dogs out and everything else that we all have to worry about.
Some days I want to just sit back and play with my daughter, eat when I am hungry, not worry about the things in life that we all hate and have to worry about. I mean think about it... did we really sign ourselves up for all of this?! Because I don't remember signing anything that said "yep I could be a mom, wife, worker, cook, cleaning lady, dog walker" and at the same time be the energizer bunny, with a permanent smile on my face with a great figure, a spotless house, and a pressed clothes. Who am I kidding, my house is decent, my smile comes and goes, my figure needs some help and if my clothes aren't stained then it's been a good day!

Follow Your Guide to Happiness Quote
“Those who danced were thought to be quite insane by those who could not hear the music.”Angela Monet
What are you Passionate About?
I am old enough to have had a number of different positions and careers. Working from home for different clients made me realize how much more successful I am when it involves doing tasks I am passionate about.
Prior to having my daughter I was a PR and Marketing Manager and loved what I did, I loved the product line the company manufactured, I loved my work, but was not a fan of the people I worked for. I was passionate in my work so who I worked for did not affect it too much.
Now I realize that the clients I work as their Marketing Consultant, which is what I love to do, I meet my deadlines, am proud of my work and enjoy every detail vs. the clients I may handle tasks that are not my favorite, even though I enjoy working for that client.
Whenever I am doing something I am passionate about my best works shines through, whenever I am doing something I am not passionate about I tend to slack off. I hate that about myself but know that this means I am confident in the line of business that shows my strengthens and rather not do the tasks that show my weaknesses.
In every job I had and I am sure will have there will always be things I love to do and things I do not love to do. I also know that I am a multi-tasker; I get bored easily if I had to do the same thing over and over again.
I also believe that although I love this job because I get to work from home, can be with my daughter a lot, meet so many wonderful people and learned to multi-task, while self teaching my self, that one day, when my children are grown and I am back in my career I will follow my passion...which may change by then but am determined to do what I am passionate about!

Chocolate= A Woman's Best Friend
I love chocolate and sometimes I crave it so badly. I try not to eat too much of it but when I do it is like heaven! I love milk chocolate, dark chocolate but white chocolate is my favorite. I am not a fan of nuts so the least fancy the chocolate the better for me.
Yesterday I woke up with a huge craving for chocolate. I ate a Nutella (Italian hazelnut chocolate spread) sandwich, I had chocolate milk and dark chocolate covered blueberries-I know I was not lying when I said I wanted chocolate. So I did what I always do...I looked up the benefits of chocolate.

Spring Ahead!!!
Happy Daylight Savings everyone. I LOVE this time of year. Spring is around the corner, the weather is warmer, I get to see my flowers start to bloom and then their is Easter-which is by far one of my favorite holidays.
I love how everyone is a little happier, I get to pull my lovely collection of flip flops out and bury my uncomfortable boring boots back in storage. I love how you can go out without a jacket, and take walks and have picnics...oh I love picnics down at the beach. And most importantly it stays lighter out longer so when I am making dinner at 6:00 it doesn't seem like it is 9:00 outside.
As you can tell I am starting off my day in a very cheerful way! Cheers to warm weather and Spring ahead!

Your Future: If you could would you want to know?
It's funny how we live our lives preparing for our future. But my real question to all of you is if you could would you want to know what your future would be like? Would you want to know how things ended up, who you would marry, how many kids you would have, where you would live or what your career would be?
I always say for fun "Why not?" but deep down I think the whole thing freaks me out a little. I am all about psychics, palm reading, tarot cards, ect...But I must admit it's fun but doesn't mean it is my reality.
I went to a psychic about 10 years ago with a girlfriend and of course she said things...some that were true some that were not true and some I do not know yet if they will come true. It was fun, mysterious, gave me something to think about. But I must say and admit that if we all knew how things would end up, if we all knew how our lives would truly be we would probably fight the things we did not want to happen and not be surprised by the things that did happen!

"Feed" the Soul...Literally
I am an emotional eater, I always have been. I eat when I am happy, sad, nervous, mad, tired, down. The only time I do not eat a lot is when I am sick. I always blamed eating on the "Italian" in me but the reality is it is how I comfort myself. I use food as a comfort to my emotions.
The flip side to this is when I notice my pants getting a little snug I get upset about it and try to control what I eat. I worked in the medical field for 5 years and worked for surgeons who performed the weight loss procedure. It was amazing how many of us eat to fulfill an emotion we can not handle on our own. Luckily I realize when I am eating too much and take a step back. But for those who can't it gets tough and need some guidance.
We all have our own addictions and use different measures in helping us deal with our emotions but we also need to know when to take a step back and not abuse ourselves and make sure we stay healthy. The reality is when we do this to ourselves we are covering up a bigger issue, that sadly will not disappear or go away unless we resolve it. Some people need a friend to talk to or a buddy to join the gym with. Some people seek counseling and find it easier to vent to a stranger.
I know I need to go to the gym more and watch my portion control. I also know working from home does not help prevent myself from 'overeating' but Spring is around the corner and soon all the great fruits and veggies will be in available and bathing suit season will be here. Sounds depressing right!? But the reality is recognize why you do what you do and try to resolve it before it gets out of control. Also there is nothing wrong with "feeding" your soul...just as long as in the long run it won't end up harming it.

Proactiv® Acne Solution-I highly recommend it!
Luckily as a child and teenager I never had to deal with the battle of acne. It wasn't until after I had my daughter that I developed acne. I immediately went to a dermatologist and ever since then I use the Proactiv® Acne Solution every morning and every night.
My family, friends and I all highly recommend this product. It is so easy to use and my skin has never looked better. I know you all have seen a ton of commercials on this but I promise you it is legit and REALLY works!!!
I love their face mask and use it weekly, and my husband even does the mask with me too. Their repairing lotion is great to use at night or during the day. So if you have acne issue or looking for a way to improve your skin then definitely give this product a try!

Stop, Breathe & Enjoy the World Around You!
My husband usually puts my daughter to bed but tonight I decided to and I must say it was so fun and sad at the same time. She is now in a "big girl" bed and I LOVE it, so does she. Her room is yellow and all the bright colors and butterflies and toddler decorations make her room so cozy!
We were lying in her bed joking around and laughing. I could not believe how much she has grown. I was singing songs with her and cuddling, it was so much fun. And then of course through the laughter came the tears. No not from my daughter but from me. I could not believe this little girl is mine. I could not believe that 26 months ago she was in my belly and now singing songs with me.
I cherish those moments when nothing else matters, when it is her and I laughing and enjoying one another. She is amazing and those last 26 months flashed before my eyes. Here my baby girl, now a toddler, was in a big girl bed, talking away and giggling at the silly things we were saying. It is these moments in life that we need to stop and focus on. Forget work, forget your bills, forget the drama of the world and sit back every day for at least 30 minutes and take it all in. Stop breathe and enjoy the world around you!

Donate and Make a Difference
It is funny how contagious generosity can be. I am a true believer of Karma and lately the smallest gestures make a huge difference. Whether it is a smile to a stranger or holding the door open for the elder, doing something good makes you feel good and whether you see it or not you in turn will receive something good!
Every year at this time I noticed that the request for donations come in. Not sure why or if there is a reason but they always seem to. I get my pile of donation requests filled with return labels, and notepads with my name on them and the ones with nickels and start to donate.
I know some people are not financially able to donate and that is fine, but for the majority of us please find a cause you believe in and give back. The feeling is rewarding in it's own way! I do not donate expecting something good in return, that defeats the whole purpose, but I give back because the cause I donate to has a special meaning to me or a loved one or just because I believe in the cause. So if you can make a difference and even it is just $5.00 every penny counts.
If you do not want to donate through the mail then get involved in a local community walk to raise money for a cause you believe in. There are a ton of local walks that I like to try to participate in and I make it fun by getting a group together to walk and in return we are giving back to our community.
Below are some of my favorite organizations to donate to.

Outgrowing Nap Time=More Vino for Mommy
These last two weeks my daughter has given me so much trouble while trying to put her down for a nap. It is exhausting. She is 26 months and I work while she sleeps so if she does not nap, I do not work and that means late night hours for me to try to play catch up.
The problem is she sits in her crib, and sings on top of her lungs. It would not be so bad if she read or played with her toys...nope she shouts and sings songs and calls for me until I give up and get her. Then she gets clumsy-like me-when she is over tired. I just do not get why she fights it...I promise I will not put up a fight if someone told me to take a nap!
I have a whole new perception on stay at home mom's since I typically am one-100% respect. I am exhausted by dinner and if I do not squeeze in a 20 minute nap I will not make it past 8:05 pm! I don't know how you mother's of multiples do it!
So I may have to stock the wine fridge to help me get through this little stage of life...hey why not don't they say a glass or maybe two are good to have a day!

Article about Your Purpose In Life
I never realized how repetitive life was until I had a child. I woke up, made us breakfast, we played, then she had snack, play some more, made her lunch then nap time. Got her up, played, made dinner, put her down for bed and then went to bed to do it all over again. Yes, now that I am working from home in between I am working, dealing with clients, checking emails ect...But there comes a point in life when you think to yourself 'is this really it?!" You start adding different activities into the mix and make plans with friends and family so you have something to look forward to. But the reality is sometimes we need a refresher as to what really is our purpose in life.
This is a great article I came across that I thought you may enjoy. I have not read the book but I did enjoy this article.

I guess I should have looked outside before calling him since we got a foot of snow. He was already up since 3 am plowing with a buddy. I got up opened the back door and attempted to let the dogs out.
Yep, we were snowed it yet again. I did my part and shoveled my way out...well after 10 minutes I decided it was enough of an attempt and headed back inside.
Below are some more fun Snow Facts:
* For the average person who weighs 150lbs you burn 408 calories an hour when you shovel
** The average snowflake falls at a speed of 3.1 miles per hour
*** Snow acts like a layer of insulation to the ground and can keep plants insulated from the detrimental sub-zero freezing temperatures.
**** According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the largest snowflake on record measured 38cm wide and 20cm thick. It was observed in Montana, USA in 1887 and described by witnesses as "larger than a milk pan".
For all of you in the East Coast make some hot chocolate and stay in!

Good Day vs Bad Day Quote

Me and My lil one
Snowed in Craft Time
We have had a lot of snow, and yet again today it is snowing so we are snowed in. Since we can not go to Stew's or Stepping Stones I had to do something to distract my hyper little girl so out came out the craft bag of goodies.
We painted...until she wanted to paint her face. We played with play-doh until she insisted she wanted to wear it so I had to make bracelets and rings out of it. Then was the puzzle that ended up all over my floor. With all that said it was a great morning. Once the snow stops we'll go play outside with the doggies, then it'll be time for a nap for baby and me!

Multitasking- Don't Do It
I multitask all the time. I brush my teeth while I am showering. I empty the dishwasher while I talk on the phone, I even check my email while I am eating. We all do it and I notice as a mother I do it even more but as we all know when we multitask we aren't focusing 100% on the task we are working on. Sometimes we make huge errors that cost us more time to fix it then to actually focus on doing it right the first time.
So I did a little research as to why we should not be doing it:
And of course as I am writing this blog post I am speaking to my husband while checking my blackberry that keeps going off. I need to shut everything out and focus on one thing at a time. Reality is that 9 out of 10 times the things that are distracting us are the least important things we should not be focusing on.

So I did a little research as to why we should not be doing it:
*The Institute of Psychiatry at the University of London conducted a study to investigate what damages a person’s IQ more: multitasking, smoking marijuana, or losing a night of sleep. The results show multitasking temporarily lowers a person’s IQ by 10 points, according to http://chicagotribune.com/

Beware-Potty Training in Session!
I must admit I am so not looking forward to this potty training thing at all. I mean I am constantly out with my daughter so it is hard to put a pull up on her, set the clock every 30 minutes and rush her to the potty. But with that said she is getting older so the pressure is up to ME to get her in the potty training mode.
I started two months ago with bringing out her potty. At first she hated it, she cried, did not even want to look at it. The first time I sat her down on it she got up, said "no potty" and stood in her own puddle...I just mopped the floor that morning.
Now she loves it, only problem she plays on it. She will sit, sing, count the tile on the ground but nothing happens. She even likes her privacy and has said "ok, be right back" and slammed the door in my face. So now the challenge is getting her to actually do something, getting me to set the timer and to get rid of these diapers for good!
I have done my reading on tips and believe what may work for one child may not work for another, ex: bribing kids with candy or chocolate-great idea but my daughter is like me and the minute she has a little sugar she gets super hyper. She already tries to run around the house without a diaper on forget about when she has a little sugar in her!
Below are some articles I read and am attempting some of their tips. In the meantime I put up a big sign on my front door to warn all visitors "Beware-Potty Training in Session!"

Rosie the Riveter Icon for Feminist Movement
How many times have we all seen this poster and never realize the story behind it? I have seen this image for years over and over again. Rosie the Riveter was an icon for the feminist movement. Funny how the designers pumped up her arms to look more masculine. She recently passed away at the age of 86. Read article here...

Greek Yogurt
I love yogurt, I always have. My daughter also loves it which is great since she refuses to drink milk. I am a huge fan of Chobani yogurt. I usually buy there vanilla yogurt and add a tablespoon of honey to it. I love the mixture of the plain yogurt with the honey. My second favorite is their peach yogurt. It has chunks of real peaches in it. Usually you can buy them 4 for $5.00 at the grocery store. Sign up here to receive a coupon and try one today!

Snow Facts
It's snowing again, third time this season, so I thought it may be fun to look up some fun Snow Facts.
- For it to snow the tops of the clouds must be below 0 degrees Celsius, or 32 degrees Fahrenheit. *
- Snow is actually clear/transparent. Snow appears white because the crystals act as prisms, breaking up the light of the sun into the entire spectrum of color.**
- There are five different shapes of snow crystals. A long needle shape, hollow column that is shaped like a six-sided prism, thin and flat six-sided plates, six-pointed stars and intricate dendrites.**
- The biggest snow storm in the United States occurred in 1967 in mid-western parts of the country. In Chicago, the storm accumulated 23 inches of snow in just 24 hours!***
We're expecting another 8-15"in the next 24 hrs. Stay warm and if you really have to go out then please drive safe!!

Power of Prayer
I know I've said it before but I can't emphasis enough about how strong the power of prayer is. We all have different beliefs and that is what makes this world such a wonderful place, but it is crazy how strong the power of prayer really is!
Someone really close to me is in the hospital. As I waited by the phone all day for updates I noticed I was driving myself crazy.
I decided I needed to leave the house for a distraction. I got my shoes on and packed my diaper bag. Before I left I made another call to the hospital, received an update that the patient was not doing better and we were not sure what the next step would be.
I put my daughter's shoes on her, sat on the couch next to her and began to pray. She was really cute as she tried to be serious as I prayed with her. I felt a little better got in my car and pulled out of my driveway. Two minutes later I received a call. The doctor's said the patient was on their way to recovery. Yes, I know you think I am crazy and yes it is a coincidence but when I went to the hospital tonight and told everyone the story it was as if we all knew it was some little miracle.
Pray...I do not care to who or what you pray to but pray and believe in the power of prayer! Trust me even if your prayers do not get answered you will feel much better!
